I started Heart Gold because I chose Chikorita in Soul Silver liek a fucking moron, and now I'm at Blackthorn with:

Gengar : Lv 37
Dragonair: Lv. 38
Typhlosion: Lv. 36
Umbreon: Lv. 36
Ampharos: Lv. 36

I plan to get an Azumarill later.

better buy a lot of revives and hyper potions... clair will give you headches

Evolves at level 36 so, I'll just give it a random stat. +50 speed for example.
Now level it to 40 and it'll have Y stats.

Cyndaquil B:
255 EVs in Speed
255 EVs in S.Attack

Evolves at level 40. +50 speed. It will still have Y amount of stats.

When it evolves, you won't be able to get anymore EV REGARDLESS once its maxed out. And even if you can gain more EV, it wouldn't matter since you were able to gain it as a CYNDAQUIL from the first place. That's why I said EV should not be taken into account when looking at stats comparing pokemons that evolve at a later level and normal level.

So in the end, its the same thing. Do you not understand? Is my english not proficient enough for you to read?

And no, the point was to confirm that the Pokemon's stats won't be affected when it evolves later than usual. That was the point of my entire "experiment". Thank you for finally understanding though. At least, I hope you did.

Anakir is right. The experiment always has at least one thing that is a given, or stays the same (that being EV). so yes, by not evolving it, your life gets a whole lot easier, and the EV remains.

WHY DOES EVERYONE CHOOSE THE FIRE STARTER???

I mean seriously probably 75% of pokemon game players will choose the fire starter, Charmander, Cyndaquil, Torchiq... i prefer the water pokemon Feraligator FTW i just dont understand what is soo damn appealling about the fire pokemon? do they look cooler? is red a better colour?

Dratini is crap at battling, but Dragonite kicks ass. My Dratini is at level 29 and it can't take even 3 hits from a level 20 Gyarados... EVOLVE DAMMIT

I tend to choose the grass starters unless its a charmander cause charazard is just to cool.
As for your dratini the one I got from the game cornor has been doing a pretty good job (took forever to get though) maybe you did'nt choose a good one in the nature area?

It's Adamant, the perfect nature for a physical sweeper.
Here's its stats:

Attack 56
Defense 33 (this is pure CRAP why the hell is it lower than the SP. Atk?)
SP. Atk 38
SP. Def 42
Speed 41

Adamant nature increases attack growth and reduces sp. atk growth btw, so I'm pissed at my Dratini's defense.

Did you get your Dratini early on in the game like me or did you catch it later on in the Dragons den, if you caught it than thats probably why its having so much trouble keeping up... although dragon rage pwns early on in the game.

Edtit: Oh wait figured it out its your Dratini's EV points I bet, EV points can really mess up a pokemon if there not set right which is why I used to catch alot of the same natured that or you can use berries to lower the EV points or something.

I need some advice/guidance. I have just got the 8th badge and defeated the Komino girls.
My team is:
Feraligatr 44
Typhlosion 40
Amphados 41
Dratini 14
Skarmory 27
Sudowoodo 20 (hm slave)
As you can see this teams gonna suck against the elite 4 and Lugia. Since I'm gonna catch Lugia without a masterball, my teams not gonna survive too long once the top 3 are dead. So basically I want to train my Dratini and Skarmory. But I cant find anywhere to train! ( I have exp share) I've defeated pretty much all of the trainers now. So can any of you please reccommend a good place to train these guys. I wish there was that thing that allowed you to fight trainers again that they had in Fire red and platinum
