Come on guys, don't be so hard on the guy.
I also made the mistake of posting my hack early, but managed to quickly pick up the pace.
Dubstep16, here are some tips to help give people a good impression of your hack:
1. Use good grammar, so that it looks official. No one would even bother to get into a misspelled game. It would make you look like a little kid who doesn't know what he/she's doing.
2. Be organized; Everything about your game, Story, Screenshots, Credits, Introduction, etc. should have their own neat section in the thread.
3. More gameplay, more popularity; Posting only Ethan's changes make people think you edited one thing and said "Hey, I should make an entire game!"
4. Reach out to people; Make sure you include information people would want to hear, no "Text edited, sprites hacked, story changes, celebi added" Be creative, and act like the people are in front of you, e.g. "There's a completely new story, with new characters, music, and everything! Characters will have new dialogue, new sprites, and their own original personality!"

And if someone criticizes you, prove them wrong, the right way. No "Yes, this will be done, I changed Misty's sprite now", give screenshots, story plots, videos, sprite sheets, betas, etc.
