Okay so it is safe to say that I have no idea what any of the stuff I just mentioned actually is.
Been reading some tutorials, and youTube videos, but I am finding difficult to discern what is current and what is out of date information.
Basically my only interest is playing games, would be great to play games from other regions, from older consoles etc, and it would be great to never spend money on game cartridges again.
I have no interest in creating custom or cool looking interfaces or menus. I just want to play games, and be able to save them.
I can't even seem to get started with purchasing a bigger SD card, I have read on Nintendo's site that the 3ds supports sdhc up to 32gb, but then I read other people saying that they have gone up to 128gb, so I am confused here as well. To be clear I have the older original US 3ds, which unfortunately has the newest firmware installed on it.
I have read some people employing some soldering skills to downgrade, and people using specific games (on cartridges) to do this.
I just need to get started on the right path here, so it would be great to purchase the largest memory card compatible, I have read how to format them to make them compatible so I am good there. Next I would like to do whatever is easiest for downgrading my fw, and then from there hopefully I can get some more useful tips from you all.
