PS1/2 Playing Imports on softmodded ps2 slim

so I followed the illustrious ps2 softmod guide and everything went according to plan-except that I expected to be able to play my imported ps2 games and I can't=

Search for something like "PS2 NTSC to PAL or PAL to NTSC converter", download it, patch the ISO with it.
Then patch the ISO again with ESR Patcher.
Play on PS2.
