Mh okay 400 seems a bit high I usually go max 320 for 20 sec if it doesn't move at 300 , but also know someone who goes max heat on it so not that sure if its an issue , thought emmcs do not like heat
Like I said I know someone who goes straight max for a few minutes so I don't think it dead,
Take it of again clean reball set the dat0 straight so there is no chance of bridging, cause that might be the issue it seems pretty close.
Just cause it bridge doesn't mean its dead
Someone elso set the emmc a few times wrong on the board and it still worked

This is my DAT 0 if u look closely there are some pad with some "pads" on the side if I remember correct those pads are unused not sure though .
Just take it of clean it really good and give it a nice reball
And try it again View attachment 2022_0213_083124_009.JPG

If it was bridging, why would it give the correct reading still? Shouldn't it be beeping a short? And yeah, 400 for just enough time for it snap in and then down back to 300 and pyramid down. I personally think the switch is a pile junk, that once you look at it the wrong way it blue screens or dies. ill give it another go tomorrow but if not, im smashing the damn thing and done with hand helds. What a waste of time and money

If its bridged with a pad that has nc doesn't mean its bridged to ground , if u use a dat0 adapter and it shorting with dat1 u also get a correct value so hard to tell.
I would just try to reball it again make sure everything is clean and the board sits properly.
Don't give up yet

suppose your right. thanks. will try again tomorrow. will let post here once its done.
btw, anyway to test/check if the chip is dead or alive (with multimeter?).

Yeo. Couldn't sleep and thought about it. Definitely EMMC issue causing no boot at all because that's indictive of all versions when EMMC is disconnected/bad/removed etc. But my frustration was brought on by how perfectly i did the reball with the paste. It was super clean. Will try solder balls this time as @Dee87 did say my ones looked crusty. Might be bad paste. And removing the EMMC now there was no short but it was diagonal so maybe it was that too. At least i can now change two variables now though will wait for magnet reball station from china. maybe another couple days or so because the way i did it with paste (tweezers technique), i just cant do by hand with loose solder balls. Will stay patient for now. Apologies for my venting before. Appreciate the help. frustrating is all. But worth the challenge because its driving me to prove people wrong the dat0 adaptors need to hit the road. It would suck paying for a modded oled with a dat0 adaptor in the mod. Its like a time bomb of failure waiting to happen imo. All or nothing forme.

Good that you’re not giving up! Keep at it and you’ll figure it out. I agree the reball looked really good. I’m practicing tons and can’t get the hang of it using a stencil so have left it until the magnetic stencil and solder ball stencil come in. Yes, I ordered both as thinking one has to work! Tough waiting as I have an oled ready to mod.

I don't understand all this adversity towards DAT0 adapters. At the time postfix adaptors were used on the old xbox 360 to take the post under the xcgpu. To date, after several years, the consoles still work. In my opinion you cut your brain too much, especially with these expressions like "time bomb" when it is a personal evaluation. As far as I'm concerned it is more harmful to reball the emmc as stethix also says than to use the adapter.

I'm using probably the same stencil, I set magnets around the emmc and add double sided tape under the emmc so I get to the same height as the neodym magnets so everything sits flush.that way u don't have to hold the stencil done while u add the paste.
U do new to hold it down when u heat it up tho cause if u don't it gonna bend and that's something u don't want
Yeah I do also think they need to hit the road specially the cheap ones that cause issues.
If u get quality ones okay but that's the issue they offer the quality ones send u cheap ones and ur money is gone.

How long is that ago,12 years?
The quality and the moral off the dat0 adapters whent down since , plus this is a handheld device which also falls down get tossed around.
So no compair to a device that sit on a shelf half of its life .
Then DAT 0 adapter just don't give a real connection I mean sure it pushed in there but that is not a proper connection .
here is a old picture how i do it , nowadays i cut the double sided not so big and set the magnets directly on the sides of the magnets
I still think a better design on dat0 adapter will fix.
The mechanism to connect two line using touch and pressed is used in everywhere and its working well. For example those fpc connector only rely on touch and pressed.
i agree but i also disagree cause if u puss the conector in flush there is no way to have the fpc sit wrong.
and there is also more pressure on those connectors from bottom and the top.
so i get what u mean but u cant really compare that cause the flex cables that are use in dat0 connectors.
most of the time they are not stiff enough and tend to bend the Point that sticks out to the dat0 solder ball
Hello, would anybody be so kind as to tell me if this DAT0 adaptor is OK please? I was wondering what the par on the left is for since it doesn't seem to be used (and Sthetix actually cuts it off during his installs).

Your picture their shows you connecting a wire to another thicker wire. Does that technique work well? Could I link 40awg to a 32awg? Is it good practise or is it overkill?

No worries about venting we all been there.
Only think u can't do is give up

The silicon tings look nice , now that I think about I think I have high temp silicon laying around I might 3d print me a silikon for that and make them myself with son magnets in the siliconform hahahhaa
Yeah I use those repair pads for the dat0 connector
