ROM Hack Patch writing advice

Hey, i was thinking of writing a patch to play mother 3 on a slot 1 device without the use of a slot 2 one. I haven't made a patch like this yet, and i have only a little experience (made some Doom hacks with a friend a while ago) but im willing to put time into it since i can't get a slot 2 until after christmas. I was just wondering if it were even possible and how long it might take to write such a patch. Any other advice would also be helpful.

EDIT: I want to put another patch on top of the english one, in case that adds complication

This cannot be done. Did you try doing a google search to see if this has been answered before? This has been covered in these forums numerous times. You need a slot 2 device to play GBA roms.
