    so i saw some patches in ppf form now i know normally you patch isos but is there a way to do extracted games (meant to be installed on the hdd? also i'm on ubuntu

    If you have a hardware hacked machine, you can just move files in and out of the folder.
    The machine will boot it without any issue.

    Iirc, ppf patches are just for ISO images.

    Haven't looked at the specifics of the format (too busy IRL these days) but if it's a plain binary patch format, there's pretty much no chance of using it on extracted files (which in turn are not sufficient to be turned back into an appropriate disc image, without added metadata such as IRD files used for PS3 discs; there are also major differences between an actual backup of an Xbox disc and rebuilt images)
