V1.2 is pretty good to be honest

true, I was already happy with v1.1.
I just added 60FPS to the v1.2 config.
The game feels laggy when trying to stay at 30fps. Shifting from 30 to 40 back and forward just feels smoother.
But I think thats also the end of hitting maxRes...

About 25-40fps 460mhz (614mhz and you rarely hit below 30) if you are playing and not staring at the sky.
Docked almost the same.

Mind to add your input lag fix, or tell what you have done to fix it?
I can't remember command, but it has ...lag=0 or 1 (max20) in the end. ...lag=0 +vsinc=1 is true no lag, but fps is dropping down very much.

guessing this is both of them combined so I’m guessing this version looks as good as it can while trying to achieve a smooth FPS??

*sorry lol need to learn to read the post fully I’ll give this a go tomorrow

Any way to add some type of better texture filtering to the 60FPS patch? I love the performance but that bilinear texture filtering is rough.

how does your 60 fps patch work with dynamic resolutions? it'll reduce resolutions to lowest in order to reach 60fps?
edit: nvm I saw your config, it set target frametime to 16.6ms

A mod has come out that improves the visual quality a lot with no big penalty to the FPS. I have attached it to this post along with comparisons. Credits to ecl0674 for making this possible.

What was changed:
- The maximum dynamic resolution threshold is increased to 100% [Portable / Dock]
- The minimum dynamic resolution threshold is 50% [Portable / Dock]
- Portable resolution is - 720p, Docked is - 1080p
- Slightly reduced image sharpness [Portable / Dock]
- Texture filtering changed from linear to anisotropic 8x [Portable / Dock]
- Increased the distance of static LODs [Portable / Dock]
- Increased the range of drawing objects [Portable / Dock]
- Increased resolution of dynamic shadows [Portable / Dock]
- Increased the range of drawing dynamic shadows [Portable / Dock]
- Increased the range of light rendering [Portable / Dock]
- Enabled global dimming [Portable / Dock]
- Enabled DoF [Portable / Dock]
- Enable lens flare [Portable / Dock]
- Enabled sun rays [Portable / Dock]
- Increased quality of SSR reflections [Portable]
- Increased quality of materials [Portable / Dock]
- Increased particle number [Portable / Dock]
- Increased amount of grass [Portable / Dock]
- Some minor changes [Portable / Dock]

Minimum for portable mode: 1.2 CPU / 537 GPU /1600 RAM
Ideal for portable mode: 1.4 CPU / 768 GPU /1600 RAM
Docked Mode: Set everything to max

ECLIPSE00074 has updated his config to 1.2:

" Updating the config to version 1.1 : 06/06/20
- Translucent Lighting Volume turned on
- Slightly reduced the quality of the dimming (but it seems that this did not affect the performance or quality)
- Tonemapper quality was reduced to the standard value
- The quality of the materials has been reduced to the standard value (it seems that it didn’t work)
- The quality of the effects has been reduced to the standard value "

" Updating the config to version 1.2 : 09/06/20

- Changed sharpness from 0.5 to 0.75
- The number of samples TAA smoothing reduced to 2 to reduce flickering in some places
- Slightly reduced resolution of dynamic shadows
- Fixed SSR quality for docked

60FPS MOD:

- Frame counter unlocked (up to 60fps) [Portable / Dock]
- Texture filtering changed from linear to anisotropic 4x [Portable / Dock]
- Minimum dynamic resolution threshold - 50% [Portable / Dock]
- Maximum dynamic resolution threshold - 100% [ 720p Portable / 1080p Dock]
- Changed sharpness from 0.5 to 0.75 [Portable / Dock]
- The number of samples TAA smoothing reduced to 2 to reduce flicker in some places [Portable / Dock]
- Slightly reduced resolution of dynamic shadows [Portable / Dock]
- Turned off the bloom [Portable / Dock]
- Slightly reduced amount of grass [Portable / Dock]

HIGH RESOLUTION MOD:

- Texture filtering changed from linear to anisotropic 4x [Portable / Dock]
- Minimum dynamic resolution threshold - 60% [Portable / Dock]
- Maximum dynamic resolution threshold - 100% [Portable / Dock]
- Changed sharpness from 0.5 to 0.75 [Portable / Dock]
- The number of samples TAA smoothing reduced to 2 to reduce flicker in some places [Portable / Dock]
- Slightly reduced resolution of dynamic shadows [Portable / Dock]
- Turned off the bloom [Portable / Dock]
- Slightly reduced amount of grass [Portable / Dock]

EDIT: I have added a few more configs of my own and merged them with the 1.2 update from ECLIPSE00074.

Sharpness 1: Sharpness has been changed from 0.75 to 1 to make it less blurry. [Portable / Dock]

Always Max Resolution+Sharpness 1: It will always run at max resolution and has a sharper image. Do not expect it to run good, it's only for screenshots or eye candy. [720p Portable / 1080p Dock]

I downloaded the 60fps ver, it didn't turn off the boom but lensflare. btw it also turned off SSAO, is this the vanilla settings with some tweaks for better fps or it's based on v1.2 graphics config?

--------------------- MERGED ---------------------------

this is nice but looks like resolution a bit high in dock and it's quite laggy. Can you please change min dock resolution to a lower one. Cos I can't find it. But leave all the effects. Pretty please.
try my preset above, it reduced docked mode resolutions to 1600x900 max but keep all settings

Assuming atmosphere its "SdRoot\atmosphere\contents\0100626011656000\romfs\Indiana\Content\Paks"

Or just drop the 0100626011656000 folder into SdRoot\atmosphere\contents

There isnt a "numbers" folder.

its a pak file titled "pakchunk0-Switch_0_p"

If you just have the pak file then you would have to create all of those folders and then drop it in the last one. Or download one of the zip files added here and replace just the pak file.

Agreed. I only play handheld, but over-clocked and mostly plugged-in. So 40+ still better than 30. Plus inside buildings I get 60 most of the time!

Just upgraded from the original pak to 1.2...my god. Handheld was giving me a headache with that blur, the improvement is night and day. THIS is what the game should have been released as. Running around Edgewater in handheld:

Aliasing is more crisp, you can discern detail on distant buildings ie: bricks

All distant blur is gone. The sharpness looks very similar to The Witcher 3 after they enabled post-processing options.

FPS is consistent, although I am overclocked.

Thank you to the wizards that are uploading all these options for everyone. If they patch the game and get it looking like this themselves without OC, it's gonna go a LONG way towards future current gen ports. With this Pak file, I finally feel like I have my Fallout itch scratched.

Anyone curious about if this is worth it, it damn well sure is. Great job guys

Like @ValenValentine said v1.2 + 60FPS is well worth it.. Good job fellas much appriciated.

Agreed. I feel like the game is finally playable or at least enjoyable now. I am coming from about half way through the PC version, so that didn't help. Thanks to all!

Its funny how they released the game in such a bad state and the awesome people here got it running way better in under a week.

Great job to the people who made this game playable and thanks.
