Weird problem here while trying to downgrade my emuNAND to 2.1 on my O3DS XL (after following the previous steps obviously).
SysUpdater runs quite well and starts installing cias until 0004013000002802.cia and NATIVE_FIRM, then for 0004013800000102.cia it says

fs.cpp:117:Result:0xD8E806A
Failed to write to file!
Did you store the update files in '/updates'?
But of course I did, otherwise how could it have gone this far?

So what do I do?
I already tried this twice (restoring my emuNAND with decrypt9 in the meantime) and the same thing happened.

I think the .3ds support and their recent cheat engine are still good arguments to get one.
Sure, they might not be worth 50-60$ now if you buy one new.

But if you have a GW since day 1 like me, tehre is still a lot of potential and reasons to use it.

Are you using the CIA ?
Try formatting your SD card.

.3ds roms are outdated to use.
And we have NTR CFW.

Yes I'm using the cia SU.
And I think I found the source of my problem. I had 127 files in 'updates' on my 3DS, and only 113 in the 'all in one pack' given by the guide... Well, the guide never told me to delete the updates folder but I guess it's still my fault for not checking that.

edit nope, same error. Will try formatting the SD...

It's RSA. Private keys, public keys. We would only have retail public keys. Not the private keys, which are used to sign stuff.

I hear that the EmuNAND downgrade fails a good deal on O3DS, but I've gone ~8 times and it's still not taking.
ReiNAND was set up on the unit just for this with a 9.2 cloned emunand with 9.0 FIRM, used Ninjhax to install Sysupdater.
Ran an SHA-1 check on the "update" folder with 7zip, hashes match on SD and PC, so it didn't corrupt.
Last CIA to show up in the list is "0004003000008F02.cia" which does not show an "Installed" before it blows up, it appears to be consistent as was observed twice.
Between every attempt I re-run decrypt9wip and restore EmuNAND backup.

Am I doing something wrong, or is my luck here just suck?

EDIT: Sysupdater worked fine on N3DS with 10.3 emunand and (what I presume is) 9.6 FIRM, so either the newer FIRM makes it work or my luck really is that suck.

Wonder if someone can help. Im trying to get my OTP on my N3DS XL system, i have gotten to Section III step 2 of this guide...

when i enter that url in the browser it just seems to load Decrypt9 and not flash the screen a few time!

Any ideas why thats happening??

The only slight problem ive had was when i had to inject FBI.cia over the h&s banner, when i first did it i tried to load the h&s banner and it said something about the icon wasnt installed correctly and needed to be re-installed, after i rebooted the system the h&s banner was gone. I had to load minipasta via HBL in order to get the the h&s banner to reappear and then FBI launched, not sure if thats caused issues or not??

You probably skipped to folder #4.

Go back to 3 and grab the arm11.bin from there and put it on your SD.

I hardly believe it could be a soft brick. So I just got into hardmodding it right away.
I think I might have used a half processed emuNAND_bricked.bin which later was renamed to sysNAND.bin. Even after rechecking md5 10 times didn't help.
Basically absolutely my fault, should've redone everything from 0 when it renamed it to sysnand without decrypting/injecting it.

Assumed you already took the SD card out of the unit and attempted to power on?

Did you have the original emunand_bricked.bin? YOu could manually adjust it and then compare the hashes to what you flashed at least.

Yes I did delete folder on the sd card after it didn't work I took out sd card. Still only blue led.
I will do that the second time with emunand_bricked. Just didn't know that script places it into unbricked folder while deleting the original. Thanks.

tbh .3ds arent "outdated" they are simply less common thanks to everyone needing to use CIA files on CFW, and the GW cheat engine is a lot more usable than NTR, sure its a ok alternative, but as a gw owner i also dont feel that GW has been fully superseded just yet, sure buying one right now might not have all the draw it once had, but its still handy to have around, and handy to have if you pick one up for cheap
