Hey

I recently modded an Original Xbox 1.2 and managed to upgrade to a 1tb sata drive. My buddy wants his done but he has a version 1.6. I know I can soft mod it. He also wants the have a 1tb to 2tb sata drive installed. I saw you can use Chimp to clone the drive. I was wondering if there is a better way these days to upgrade the HDD on a 1.6 or is getting the 40 to 80 pin cable and power splitter and using Chimp the only way

Thanks

There are lots of ways this can be done, including what you're saying (Chimp method.)

I recommend dumping the EEPROM using the softmod method, then create a new hard drive using the HDD key from the EEPROM using FATXplorer.

Is there a better tool or do you have your own?
I used a Raspberry Pi Pico to dump mine.

Now that ENDGAME exists, it's a bit redundant to do this unless the Xbox is locked out or dead.

And even then, I'm pretty sure you would need to solder to the alt points for the EEPROM, since the LPC is no longer connected on the 1.6 motherboards.

I think I have to solder in a Pi Pico to read it from the youtube videos I'm seeing. Or am I missing someting? I never used Endgame either

ENDGAME is basically an exploit to softmod the Xbox.

If you want to dump it like how I did it, you're gonna need to solder something like a Raspberry Pi Pico, Arduino or something similar.

Most people don't want to do this, and I would have to agree in most circumstances.

What you should do, is softmod the Xbox using ENDGAME, dump the EEPROM, then make a new locked hard drive using FATXplorer, while also making sure you create an EXACT duplicate of the original hard drive, because the softmod relies on the Microsoft dashboard and it also creates a "shadow" C partition file that games and homebrew will see.

Certain programs (namely FTP) will only have access to the shadow C partition and not the actual C partition - which is why I mention this.

So softmod is complete. I then Used Filezilla to FTP to the console. I entered the E: drive and copied the Eeprom from the backup folder. I went into Fatxplorer. Under HDD security tools I load the new drive and Eeprom.bin. What do I do next? Should I also FTP and copy the c: drive and others to the new drive to the appropriate drive letter?

Thanks

I'm still not sure how to setup a new 1tb sata to work using this method. Is there a guide for this?

Thanks

How do you access teh actaul C: partition to copy it and not the shadow c:
