I've never heard of this, are you doing online competition or free battle? Also do you have the latest 1.4 update from the eShop?

oras just now requires a system update to go online :( how can i bypass that without updating
i have rxTools for n3ds and o3ds

I'm assuming you meant you need to install a patch, but the patch can only be obtained from eshop, which you can only access at a higher firmware.

There's a certain website (that ISO place), which should have the updates.

Download the .cia file onto your emunand and you are good to go.

Also, in case you didn't know, to install .cia files, you'll need FBI or big blue menu.

Edit:

In the event that it really needs a system update, and not just a simple patch,

Someone will probably find the required .cia of one of the many files in the 3ds, and it'll only need that to update.

Just like how people managed to get the eshop to work on lower firmwares.

It also happens to me. With Alpha Sapphire and my friend list. I'm on 10.3.

--------------------- MERGED ---------------------------

I guess Nintendo blocked the online on 10.3.

I'm on 10.4 and started getting this today. Is weird they blocked the friends list on lower fw.

Same thing happened to me on super smash bros needing a system update. Will update my emunand from 10.3 to 10.5. Is there a reason nintendo is forcing people to update?

For the sake of clarification, the latest online service maintenance did indeed make it so that you need to be on the latest FW to play online (does this apply to games without friendslist?) or use the friends list itself.
N3DS users should prooooobably switch to a different CFW that isn't rxTools now.
Nevermind that though, has anybody tried spoofing NVer/CVer to latest and seeing if that makes it tick?

Might be pulling a Wii U here and forcing users to be on the latest firmwares to access online.
Ah ok, Also just tried super street fighter 4 since that game doesnt require a NNID for online to make sure it was for all games and not just games that connect with a NNID and the same update required message popped up.

The phat model had amazingly loud speakers tho.

@Jayro, I don't see whats so special about the DS ML, its just a DS lite in a phat shell. At least the phat model had louder speakers, whereas the lite has a much better screen.

They probably said "Hey, why not we combine the two together and make a 'new' DS to sell".

It's a DS Lite in a slightly bigger DS Lite shell.

    It's not a Nintendo / iQue official product, it's a 3rd party custom.

Nothing special about it other than it's more comfortable than the Lite

@SylverReZ if you could find a v5 DS ML you would have the best of both worlds since the v5 units had the same backlight brightness levels as the DS Lite unlockable with flashme

    but that's a long shot

A woman with no arms and no legs was sitting on a beach. A man comes along and the woman says, "I've never been hugged before." So the man feels bad and hugs her. She says "Well i've also never been kissed before." So he gives her a kiss on the cheek. She says "Well I've also never been fucked before." So the man picks her up, and throws her in the ocean and says "Now you're fucked."

anyways, we need to re-normalize physical media

if i didn't want my games to be permanent, then i'd rent them

Agreed, that why I try to buy all my games on disc, Xbox anyways. Switch games (which I pirate tbh) don't matter much, I stay offline 24/7 anyways.
  • AncientBoi @ AncientBoi:
    I don't pirate them, I Use Them :mellow:. Like I do @BigOnYa 's couch :tpi::evil::rofl2:

@BakerMan - you can still "own" digital media, arguably easier and better than physical since you can make copies and backups, as much as you like.

    The issue is DRM
  • cearp @ cearp:
You can buy drm free games / music / ebooks, and if you keep backups of your data (like documents and family photos etc), then you shouldn't lose the game. but with a disk, your toddler could put it in the toaster and there goes your $60

    :rofl2:
  • cearp @ cearp:
still, I agree physical media is nice to have. just pointing out the issue is drm
  • rqkaiju2 @ rqkaiju2:
i like physical media because it actually feels like you own it. thats why i plan on burning music to cds
