You can add me to the brick list - mine bricked two days ago when I switched from playing Zelda to Super Mario 3D land.

He's not really updating this list anymore, for some reason... The current bricking count is probably about 12 or more.

Can you post a picture of your Blue-screen'd 3DS with your two Gateway cards next to it?

Can anyone confirm that the 2.0b1 launcher is safe to use? Are there any reported bricks with 2.0b1?

Yeah it's safe. There was one reported brick, but I don't think it was legitimate.

Sorry @ All the people who bricked.

I'm glad that my 3DS is still alive - even after the system transfer with 2.02b..

Thanks for the info Huntereb, I will update to 2.0b1 then since it will allow me to play some of the games that require the newest SDK like Zelda. Once I get back home, I'll upload a photo with my Gateway cards and bricked 3ds.

You can add me to the brick list - mine bricked two days ago when I switched from playing Zelda to Super Mario 3D land. I have an official gateway (modchipcentral.com) using 2.0b2 and the MD5 of the launcher.dat etc all matched the ones posted on Gateway's website. I'm at work now, but I can post pics later if necessary.

Thankfully, I was able to buy a second 3DS for very cheap, and I'm using the 1.2 launcher since it doesn't have the bricking code and I have read no brick reports with this launcher. My plan is to eventually use an unbricking service for my old 3DS, as I don't trust the Gateway people.

Can anyone confirm that the 2.0b1 launcher is safe to use? Are there any reported bricks with 2.0b1?
I think there was one person who said they got bricked from the 2.0b1 launcher, but many people think its fake. Otherwise, it should be safe for you to use

Let me ask a very legitimate question:

To those who were bricked, when you updated, did you re-install the exploit before putting on the new launcher or did you just replace the launcher?

Whenever I updated, I ALWAYS re-installed the exploit first before changing the launcher. I know sometimes the exploit installer freezes and you'd have to restart the 3DS. I've had that happen to me a few times.

I only used the blue card exploit once when mine occurred from the 2.02b zip file.

Strange how Zelda is mentioned again, as its the 3rd time I have seen it mentioned including myself. Can you post up a step by step when it actually occurred like I have done a few pages back on this thread? Pics are good too if you can. Mine is now on its way to the GW team, which should get there soon.

Personally, I'd stay on 1.2 on your other console. 2.01b is known to cause save and instability issues frequently but depends on how bad you wanna play zelda.

I sincerely hope the OP hasn't stopped updating hoping that I would just take care of the rest. I haven't had the time to do so, but if anyone really wants the post updated, do me a favor and I will do it tonight. Comparing whatever we have in the first post, if there are additional cases that need attention, catalog them into one post, tag my name, and I will take care of that. Use the code below to get my attention.

These first two posts are hard to read without Google Translate, but they look legitimate.

Another brick reported on russian forum, message ID #2352
Short translation:
"Used only 2 original gateway carts. No clones, no region-free launchers.
Tried to launch game today and it hangs on 3DS loading screen. Tested gateway with built-in selftest, everything was ok and green. Tried to launch game again - still hangs on loading. Rebooted console and got blue screen of death."

my brick with legal GW

Hello.

I write to you with a bad news
Today I see a blue screen on my 3DS XL
Let’s I saying my story:
I buy 3DS XL MoH3 edition in beginning of December 2013, after I found with firmware 4.5
After that I order 2pcs of GW from aliexpress (2 – because I read that about 10% of defect and because want to buy in closest future 2nd 3DS for my son)
I receive it in NewYear. Make tests for both – all fine. Know that microsd card 4 class didn’t working with red flash, only with blue for ds games.
Make backup and emunand and begin using it.
I play mario 3d land, donkey kong and Bravely Default.
Some days ago I see that new firmware is out – watch internet about review it with GW – ‘all working fine”, I see.
I update it and continue working Bravely Default. Almost all time I didn’t turn off console and even didn’t close the game.
Today I buy a WiiU console.
After I begin it tune up – it ask me for Mii. I choose – copy from 3DS. So I close the game and going into mii editing
When all done – I try again launch the game, but it will stop on picture 3DS (that came after we launch any game)
I reboot 3DS and try again (launch emunand with enter L+Ds profile and choose GW mode) – repeat all.
I reboot again and going to test GW flash – all test is fine. I try another my GW flash – the same.
I format microSD card with my PC and write Bravely Default on it again.
I again try launch and again stop screen. But After reboot I see a blue screen
Bootrom 8046
Errcode: 00F800EF
FFFFFFFF FFFFFFFF
00000008 00000000

I didn’t use any GW clones and didn’t try region free patch (I don’t need this)

I afraid – if I return console by warranty – they change into the new with older than 4.5 firmware
[\spoiler]
The forum automatically put these next few into a spoiler for some reason.

Hello everybody,

our 3DS XL bricked 2 days ago.
We have purchased the "geniue" Gateway card from elewelt.com

the bricking progress:
We received both, our 3DS and the GW package on friday (24th January), at the same evening I set up the GW cards correctly. (I used the 2.0b1, but it was automatically updated to b2 as I updated the EMUNAND to 7.1.)
2 days the 3DS was working without any problems. Our blue card was used once at the 24th to install the GW Mode.

Since this time we stayed in GW Mode and played "Mario Kart 7 EUR", my wife got borred from this game and so we decided to change the game on the red card.
So we ejected the red card, our 3DS was on and in GW Mode. I copied "Donkey Kong Country returns" via the SD IMAGE programm like Mario Kart before.

I inserted the red card (3DS still alive in GW Mode) and boom... we got the blue screen with Errorcode 8046. Since that, our 3DS is dead.
Here are some pics:

We are upset :glare: and can't understand why they made this....
We have the luck that our dealer changed our unit yesterday. Now we got a brand new device with firmware 4.4. but are still afraid of using the "original" GW cards again.

This is our story...

sad but true :(

There's trick that seems to avoid it. Run a game, save ASAP and exit. If it doesn't crash then, you're good until you reboot.

I couldn't get much out of the Russian page, and the Chinese ones didn't load at all. The other entries have been logged into the original post though.

The 2nd and 3rd chinese links worked for me, yet the translation is very bad when I used Google Chrome to convert to English. Cant make any sense of it and it mentions "Emunand bug with cats and dogs. lol:ha:

I'd rather not add something unless I get a Chinese translator that is reliable. ;)

Was that the incident where it was the friend of a friend who claimed to have a broken unit with no real proof? I wasn't sure about that one. :P

@Xdqwerty, No. Whenever you use the internet on Windows, Microsoft collects personal data and installs bloatware that isn't necessarily needed, such as Edge.

Yes, you can debloat the operating system, but in some cases for me it just reinstalls them.

@Xdqwerty yes, when you are installing Windows on the first steps you are asked for your current location, you MUST to select «international» so no bloatware is installed, because the bloatware is location based. if this night I have some time I will setup a VM and take screenshots.
