From age 20 to 25 Robert Pelloni created a retail-sized NDS game from scratch, pouring 15,000 hours into it over 5 years. It started off being developed for the GBA, then he shifted to the DS when that came out to take advantage of the touchscreen.

I'd recommended reading some of the interviews he links on the page.
Like this one: http://blog.differentpixel.com/archives/29...-Interview.html

All concepts, story, code, sprites, tiles, music, samples,
fonts, etc. were created entirely from scratch by me-
and I had to teach myself the skills as I went along.

The code is straight C, the music is tracked, and the art is all
completely hand-clicked tiles and sprites- done the right way,
pixel by pixel, like the classics we all know and love.

Make sure when you watch the video, the annotations are on. I will definitely buy this when it comes out.

8.4 hours a -day- is a long time to work on a DS game.

I think we just might all have to buy it.

I think the dude spends too much time reminding us of how long it took him to make the game and patting himself on the back for a job well done and not enough time showing us why we should buy it.

Look here, it has a forest too! Full of trees, it took me 3 days just to code that tree. Isn't this scenery beautifull?

No it isn't, it looks quite mediocre actually.

I don't actually care how many people or how many years it takes to make a game, I just want to know if the game is good and if it's worth buying.
Is this game good, and if so what makes it good? Now that's what the dude should be telling me.
Well that's my opinion anyway.

Yea been tracking that game for a while now. Regardless of how much people say he talks about himself or whatever, I got to give the guy props. Anyways, the game looks interesting enough.
Still, I'd buy it just for the support. If he dedicated that much time, hell yea I'm impressed. And it's good he's proud of his work.

Shit...I think that game looks better(graphically) than quite a few others that have came out, by paid devs. I will definitely give it a download once/if it gets dumped. And if it's any good then I'll buy it just to support him(like I do with any game that I play and think it deserves to be purchased). And honestly, that kid can gloat all he wants. He taught himself how to make a video game...at his house. And that's probably not a small feat.

He is too late, but still....

I so much like what I see from videos....I hope he gets a good publisher, and gets lots of money for this, I think he deserved it..

And this "theatrical trailer" is made very good.. I'm still amazed by the games AI, people moving in rows, taking their own seats!!
