Old Systems Never Die! or, How I Learned to Stop Worrying and Love CFW

I recently got back into cfw/flash carts and it seems every google result on the subject returns threads from gbatemp, so I decided to join up!

I've been way out of the loop on this subject and I'd like to get the most out of my old systems: GBA, DS, 3DS, PSP, Vita, Wii, Wii U, PS3, Xbox, etc.
