It's ok to do that but when you got banned you have to call Nintendo to do that for you because you can't unlink account on banned system.

Sounds like a good precaution to me.I was personally wondering if it was better to unlink my account before I even do anything hack related and possibly set up a new disposable account
I only have the BotW DLC on my main account and Disgaea 5 on my JP account. But I'm not sure what consequences there are.

So I learned a few things today.
You can't unlink it yourself on the website or on the switch if the console is banned.
If you contact Nintendo and say "My console is banned, please unlink my account" they will say something along the lines of "no"
If you contact them and say "Can you please unlink my account from a Switch I don't have access to" they will do it immediately.
I would have went with the I dropped it and broke it. Please unlink it since I have already purchased a new one.
Wouldn't saying it was stolen/missing work too?? They might still suggest warranty repair if you say you dropped it.

I will add this to my banning thread and properly credit you. This is going to be very useful information if it happens multiple times. So I learned a few things today.

is this by phone call only or there's an email address to request the same thing? So I learned a few things today.
