I read an article about using an old Android smartphone as a CCTV camera? Have you ever tried such a thing? Is it really working? Actually, I wondered, if it is really possible how much cost-effective
its feasible by setting an old phone as an ip camera if you have a power source nearby. However i would not use it as something that would be asbolutely reliable. thats just me.I read an article about using an old Android smartphone as a CCTV camera? Have you ever tried such a thing? I like the idea as well. i would just not use it as per say a replacement for a home security system. Although I do like your idea of it as a small pet monitor.I bought an old blocked S4 mini about 3 years ago for £10, installed Alfred camera on it and on my iPhone and Shield TV and set it up in position keeping it plugged in to power while turning off the screen.
It’s been super useful for monitoring garden/pets and stuff, I could imagine better models being better resolution, but it’s definitely a useful way to recycle old useless phones, as you can hook up as many as you want.
