I have downloaded and installed the latest kernel (1.17) from the R4 site, I got the latest cheat database, etc....only thing I haven't tried it the patch, but whatever.

I still cant get the "thank you for playing" screen from not showing up. isnt 1.17 supposed to have fixed this? am I doing something wrong?

You could still use the same sav file just rename your sav for U the same as the European version cart
For example:
US cart: FFCC RoF .SAV
Change top sav to bottom sav and it works ^^ so no need to start all over again.
EU cart: FFCC RoF [E].SAV

I added a "no thanks for playing" cheat to the Euro version of the game in the cheat dat. I didn't test it though.

If you check Kodewerx, kenobi demonstated why the "Thanks" screen appears, and added a code that works on all versions without changing the timer, which is used at various points during the game and so shouldn't be killed.
