If you think the DS2 is too expensive, save for it and buy it. Like some said, it's a good investment. But if you want to have a flashcart right now then just get an AK2i

It's not a matter of having the money. It's not wanting to spend close to $80 on flashcarts

QUOTE(darkriku2000 @ Sep 3 2010, 05:43 AM) I know that, I was saying just the price of one card, I'd still get the flashing service for both, but than I can just copy the other files (the pre-packed homebrew) onto the other sd micro
No, you can't. The update that they install is not stored on the microSD, it's flashed to the cart itself, so you can't just copy it.

I'm not talking about the update. I said the premium service on one card, and a premium service + micro sd + card reader with the other. So both cards have the firmware update pre-installed and then I'll copy the pre-packaged homebrew and things like that (the goodies you get with the micro sd) onto the other one.

Oh I do need to ask one more thing. In the case of wifi enabled games, like metroid prime hunters, is it possible to actually go online? Or would I have to be using the original cartridge

Since you now mention that yopu both have DSi's, I like everybody else now say just get the AK2i. There used to be a cupon you could use to get a discount on them at ShopTemp, but I don't think it

I am almost convinced. As I asked before though, is it compatible with wifi features in games? Also, if I get the flashing service for both cards do I need to order to micro sd cards?

i'm pretty sure the ak2i work with wi-fi (i don't have access to wi-fi yet. poor me) the only thing is you have to use a lower security setting, if i remember correctly from reading all the guides.

Well, I'm convinced. Now I just have to convince my bro who seems to want the R4i gold just because it's 6 bucks.

being an owner of a R4i clone, I have to say, they have terrible compatibility, they don't update as much, so when new game comes out, you can't even play them unless someone patches them to work, and even then sometimes it don't work...I spent more time on forums asking why a game don't work than playing games...

with the DSTWO I never had that problem...every game works..I've not have any issues with any games at all...and I haven't even updated my EOS yet..

those R4 clones are just a waste of money

If you can borrow a DS Lite or DS Original, you are better off updating the cart yourself rather than going for the Premium update service.

I have a detailed step by step guide which will tell you how to do that and setup AKAIO so you can use your Acekard http://gbatemp.net/index.php?showtopic=218103

Also check the firmware version on your DSi's, if one is v1.3 or below you can use that to update them.

Tell that pretty much any major title released in the past four years (pokemon, dragon quest, megaman zero collection) won't work properly (or at all) unless he manually hunts down a patch for each game, some of which don't exist.

Now, he COULD get an original clone R4 (not R4i, not R4-SDHC, not R4-III, not R4-Upgrade, not R4-big-tits, NOTHING BUT THE ORIGINAL R4) for $6 from shoptemp.com and use the Wood R4 firmware which lets you play the latest games... but the original R4 doesn't work on a DSi with the latest firmware (which pretty much any one will be) and won't work with memory cards above 2GB.

I agree. Get an Acekard 2i. I have had mine for almost a month now and I have not had a single problem. I had an R4 for my DS Lite but it was a piece of garbage.
then you obviously got a clone because the R4 i had was absolutely wonderful. carts are not garbage just because they do not have any extra features. if my dsl was still working, i would still use my r4

I call incompatibility with a majority of recent games (considering that playing the games is the point in the first place), the common inability to find the right firmware for your specific clone, and being limited to a 2GB card as aspects of being a shitty product...

If you have a budget, AK2i, if you don't, SCDSTwo. Seeing as your only looking for ROM comaptibility and Homerew, I would recommend AK2i. 666th post, screen cap.

Yeah, he was convinced a while ago, so it's settled. Thanks for everything guys.

Also, I figure with the SCDS2... the 3DS isn't far off. So when flashcarts get released for that those will have all the goodies we want
