This happened to me once on one of my older o3ds's. The screw got broken while inside the 3ds and couldn't be unscrewed by any kind of screwdriver.
The only solution the tech found was to melt the plastic VERY CAREFULLY with a solder machine (and of course, breaking permanently that screw slot). But i had to do it for a motherboard switch...

Didn't @raulpica say something about locking your thread creation ability?

If you can't figure out you need to use a drill to remove the screw, you really have no business soldering a hardmod...

That's a last resort thing to do. it damages the screw slot PERMANENTLY. Try the rubberband and drill like suggested above first!

    :!:

Except vb_encryption_vb did mention the drill. the drill trick is usually done with a rubberband between the drill and the stuck screw.

Last thread before this one was created on Sunday, which makes this _slightly_ acceptable.

Just remember @olec04 that I'm watching you ;)

First try using a rubber band before doing something that will damage it permanently.

Easiest way is to use a small tip drill. I used a dremel in the past on high settings and the screw head popped off. Just don't put too much downward pressure and just get the inside of the screw head to thin out and it pops off.
