I have an aux cord plugged into my computer aux port but I don't see the 3DS audio anywhere in OBS. Does this mean my computer's port is output only? If so, is there any operation or hardware that I can do/use to have it record the audio?

The majority of slim to ultra thin laptops only have an audio output or uses the same plug to deal with both wich will require you to have a splitter. Your safest bet is to get a usb audio adapter that has both an output and input jack, audio quality might be less than onboard audio.

The dell xps 15 uses a combo port, you will need to get one of those 3.5mm splitter adapters for input or get a usb audio adaptor.

Problems with a 3.5mm splitter is that it uses either the left or right channels for audio input, your only going to be able to record in mono rather than stereo.
