Seems like every one is bitching about graphics these days.

If you dont like the graphics of a game then don't f*cking play it!

That's a terrible argument ("If you're going to point out any flaws in x, then don't play x at all"). Also, the graphics aren't really the problem from what I gather; it's the aesthetics that people hate.

Go back to Terraria; the graphics aren't all that sophisticated (Being 2D for starters), but the art style is vibrant and engaging, so it looks good.

I love minecraft for its endless abilities.
It's just a massive sandbox game that had no ending untill the Adventure updates.
Can't care that it has "shitty graphics" or that everything is cuboid.
It's about the game play!

Games from the 3rd and 4th gen are also terrible if you look at them in comparison to lets say Crysis.

But back in the day it all counted on 1 thing and that was Gameplay!

tbh I really want to play Terraria but I dont want to install Steam );

good graphics don't mean HD i what they mean how nice enjoyable a game looks example look at a link to the past the game till this day looks GORGEOUS samegoes for lots of old games

in the whole notch leaves thing well it seem lazy notch will be able to have his dream of a 24/7 vacation because to be honets he did shit t improve the game and jeb haves been doing all the works for a while now so notch leaving could mean that the game will actually move to a more sandbox kind of game and stop been a half ass rpg

I never understood the hype of MineCraft. I tried it, tried downloading some mods, some adventures. Tried to force myself to enjoy it. I think it is fun to build things with friends. But unlike most of the games I play, Minecraft very quickly made me feel like I was wasting my time. I guess people play games for different reasons. I play them for Strategy, Adventuring, and Storylines. The occasional beautiful game whether it is creative or graphically pleasing is also nice as well. Minecraft didn't offer any of those things to me straight out the door. If it offered any of those things, it was probably ONLY adventuring...maybe. Even now that the game is out of beta I don't see the appeal.

No, not at all. Crysis looks nice, sure, but many games from the Super Nintendo and Genesis (Super Mario World and Super Metroid come to mind) had enough emphasis placed on the aesthetics so that they still look good today.

And I've mentioned this before, but the whole "People wanting better graphics thing" isn't new at all. Sega's initial marketing for the Genesis placed a big emphasis on graphics (16 bit vs. 8 bit), and games still flopped (Earthbound being the big one) because of their relatively poor graphics.

A game should look good. It doesn't have to require the most advanced graphics cards to play; it just needs to look as if some thought went its design. Everything else is also important, but a game that looks dull and uninteresting is going to have a difficult time immersing a player.

I never played crysis so I can't judge it.

If you'd compare the games from the 7th gen to the games from the 9th gen for example people will still squeal about how shitty todays games are.
Majority of people will still whine about graphics etc.

For me its about storylines and gameplay.
Minecraft doesn't have a storyline but with enough fantasy you could make a gem of gaming session.

They still never fixed the high GPU demand from 1.8.
I have a MC server and haven't touched it since 1.8 came out because my fuckin computer gets HOT when I'm playing. Doesn't help that its a laptop.

I see it as slightly more likely to be fixed now that Notch has stepped down actually, because the problem started while Jeb was developing the 1.8 beta.

yea i dont see what people like to be honest when it was in beta i give the game a chance after hearing stuff on how the final game was gonna be now that the game is out The release retail game worth $30 i can say is a disappointment it change almost nothing from the beta tons of bugs are still on it the game singleplayer is still boring as hell. but who care notch is rich now

some of the so call features are crap

like the food system that none ask for is a joke and ruins the game

the combat feels boring and in cases useless.

the vanilla look of the game is UGLY really hard on the eyes the game haves NO STYLE

the AI is a joke if you can even call that AI

the NPC that notch force into the game are useless

the end of the game feels like a insult to the player a game with 0 plot gets a ending o wow

ECT

so the game is almost not mediocre in Multiplayer due to the fact you get to talk to other people and use mods to me that the only way to play it and even that gets boring

That was basically the point of my post with the "review", the game has TONS of issues, i don't care at graphics to be honest, i actually kinda like the "primitive" aspect of the game. But the rest? I bought the game when it was cheap for the building aspect. It's better than the official Lego game.

The game mods are great... then he goes all blizzard style and uses the mod ideas to add then to the main game, stating as "new" additions. Tries to sell the game code to modders, etc... etc...

I would love to see how many have bought the game since it went 30$...

Notch has been holding Minecraft back for most of its life.
Hopefully something actually gets done now.

All they really need is an easy way to incorporate mods into SMP, kill client-side SMP mods, and they're set. Spout already did it, they just need to copy it really.

...half ass rpg...
I think he just noticed terraria getting popular. Before the rpg elements were started to be introduced (1.7.3), I think it was awesome. Minecraft was good for sandbox, terraria good for rpg. Now minecraft adds shit like alchemy, dragons, exp, etc. etc.

You people are stupid. If all you can see is BUGSBUGSBUGSISSUESBUGSBUGSBUGSISSUESBUGSMOREBUGSSTUPIDBUGS in Minecraft, you have no idea what you're doing in it, have no creativity in it, or don't know what it's about. Those bugs? Yeah, they rarely detract from gameplay. Minecraft is the only game apart from Pokemon that I've most likely clocked in over 300 hours on. Building. Or doing random things. Or just crafting.

So you say $30 for a game that will give me endless replay value is still not worth it? And yet $60 for a damn rehash like CoD is? Are you people nuts? Yeah, the game has bugs. Those bugs are not gamebreaking. Sometimes doors don't work on multiplayer. Sometimes there're bugs you can even exploit. News Flash: All games have that.

Guess what. None of that is nessesary to play Minecraft. Minecraft is still the exact same game it was back in Beta or Alpha. Just with a few added perks that some people wanted. The only thing that wasn't the best idea was hunger. But guess what. You can turn that off with a simple mod.

I never said I didn't like it anymore. I just think that the new elements don't fit in. I ignore them.
