With something like the n64 it is much better in the long run to use actual hardware. If you do not want to actually collect the games though, then just buy the system and a everdrive 64 v3 with a SDHC card and you are all set.

Well, that's not always a choice or option for people to use, this is an emulation-heavy site, so... Everdrive carts are bloody expensive. Why did you feel the need to say that? Emulators are never perfect, but they're helluva more convenient than spending a crap load on the N64 and Everdrive, just saying.

Just figured since it was a 1 time payment despite costing a lot that it would help in the long run considering n64 emulation is not perfect like you said but compatibility over convenience should be the bigger priority as far as something like this goes. Plus it does not hurt to go out of your way to have the actual hardware every now and then instead of emulating everything.

Right, but this isn't exactly the opportune thread to be discussing and is pretty much borderline off topic chat. People will use emulators no matter what, and besides, why can't you make a separate thread about this anyway? The Wii isn't exactly super powerful, they have to optimize it. I get the impression that you're perhaps, maybe indirectly dissing those who take their spare time to program these things, so it seems anyways. This would be better discusses elsewhere on the forums, and not on an emulation thread like this.

Did not feel the need to make a separate thread about it since it is still about the n64 emulation or not. Just made a simple comment. Did not think you of all people would get upset enough to reply to it and take it out of proportion like this. No diss to emulation btw, it's just that this emulator is most likely never to get updated ever again.

We don't know that for sure. I'm not upset, I was merely thrown off by the suddenness of the topic that was brought up. The dev already gave Not64 a massive speed boost, to say more work can't be done is a bit..presumptuous.

Wow, this update is fantastic. Many games now play at full speed that didn't before, the first bomberman 64 now plays perfectly, and Mario party 3 works fantastically, this is of course after changing an option or two on the audio and video options. I only have a few small requests at this point:

Allow me to use the home button to go back to the menu like wiisx does

Allow Wii U Pro Controllers

Fix the issue where Wii Pro Classic controllers act as if the analog stick is constantly gently being pushed forward.

Other than those issues though, I am very impressed, compatibility and speed have greatly increased and I love it.

Ah ok, i understand. It did indeed get a pretty big speedboost. Next time i will go about this differently. Just wish it still had constant updates like it used to that's all.^_^ 1 quick question for you, this may be off topic again though. For the original xbox console you can upgrade the ram in it to get emulators/homebrew to run better on it. Would the same thing be possible for a wii to have that same effect?

Are you SERIOUS??!?! Is the speed boost really that drastic? DAYUM, I need to test this out tomorrow (late here, 12:24 AM lol) but holy hell. I do have a request, not sure if you have the ROM, or ROMs, but did you run Bomberman 64-2: The Second Attack, Hybrid Heaven (had a dynarec issue where the camera would lock up as you climbed ladders), and maybe Mystical Ninja 64? Wow, see, these are the kinds of changes that should be happening regularly on the main Wii64 branch :P

I really don't know, I don't own an Xbox..sorry :P

no biggie everyone i'm glad that people are trying to keep emulation alive on these classic systems. was Not64 the only wii emulator or was there a different one?

WOW I was just logging in to report that i had crashes on the 24/12/1014 build but i now see a new 26/12/2014 build with a hotfix is out and i read about speed gains. AWESOME work and MANY THANKS Extrems !!

BTW, since i have both Wii64 and Not64 on HBC, how can i make Not64 look into the same rom directory as Wii64 (sd:/wii64/roms) and the same savegame directory if possible too (sd:/wii64/saves/)?

I opened the /apps/Not64/meta.xml file and i edited the line

<arguments>
<!--<arg>rompath = "[sd,usb]:/path/to/file"</arg>-->
</arguments>

to

<arguments>
<!--<arg>rompath = "[sd]:/wii64/roms/"</arg>-->
</arguments>

but no dice, i must be doing something wrong on my end. Can anyone share some advice?

I have not tested this myself, but you might want to remove the "[" and "]" brackets around the "[sd]". Also, the line is commented out by the "<!--" and "-->" parts. But if you make it so that the arguments look like this instead:

<arguments>
<arg>rompath = "sd:/wii64/roms/"</arg>
</arguments>

it should work. If it does not, maybe leave the brackets alone and just remove the "<!--" and "-->" parts might do the trick.

Nice to see you around Extrems

BTW I remember a while back the devs for the UAE Amiga emulator added 240p support, and that increased speed dramatically. Wouldn't a similar thing be possible here? Assuming it isn't already rendering original resolution at 480i

Not64 is a branch from the main Wii64 branch, but this is so much better; Wii64 hasn't seen an update in over two years, who knows if the main branch will ever be updated lol.

Extrems, could you compile next versions of Not64 using this new libfat.a file in your libogc enviorement?
It enables UStealth in Wii U systems, a way to hide HDDs from Wii U OS, that way only vWii can read them.
It goes in libogc/lib

I think there's not makefile in the original sourse of Wii64... Couldn't compile by myself
