I know 360 backups can be network loaded, but can you network load Xbox Classics and XBLA games in the same way?

Can you network load roms into the emulator that's on FreestyleDash?

And finally, can savedata for 360 games be saved and loaded via network?

Thanks for any response, and yes, the general theme is loading things via lan, so any insight on that is greatly loved.

I dun see why it's not possible.
However XBox classics might be something different.
They do require a HDD with the needed HDDX partition
But I dun see why not.

Nope, ROMS are HDD/USB only.
N64 Emulator goes via XeLL, which doesn't even load the 360's kernel.

Nope, Save data must be stored on a FATX formatted USB or HDD.

Personally, I'd just dump a large HDD in it.
It's far easier to do things from HDD then from the network, but I'm no one to stop you.

Thanks!

Ah I can live without ROMs and savedata via network. The emulators on the 360 suck anyway.

Outlandish question but: Can you network INSTALL 360 ISOs, Xbox classics, XBLA games or anything to the 360 through your network storage? The original Xbox has a function specifically for it through XBMC, but I'm not sure if 360 supports that yet or if it can. Now that I think about it this would be alot more useful than straight up loading the whole disc through LAN.

Hmm, I never used network loading tbh.

You'll have to load gamerips anyway ;p
You can also load GOD files (GOD converted ISO's) but they also need decrypting etc, so gamerips would be quicker.
So you don't need any installation of any sorts.

Thanks again! I never considered GOD files, but I think you're right gamerips would be a heck of alot faster.

I guess the last thing I wonder is if Freestyledash or otherwise has some form of file manager included or plugin to where I can say move an ISO from my network storage over to my 360's internal or USB storage without having to mess with unplugging parts of my setup or breaking out my old discs again.

FSD has a filemanager build in yep.
I'd suggest you'd take a look at me tutorial on how to set up FSD.
That way you'll have an easy directory tree as well.

Also, ISO images won't fit on the 360's HDD at all.
FATX has a filelimit of 4GB.
So you're stuck with gamerips.
You can extract your ISO's with Xbox Image browser.

They can? I did not know that, just USB loading.

You mean just copy them over via the network (you really don't need to install most 360 games, GTA5 being one of the few that you do)? Yeah, you just have FSD running on your 360, then you use your FTP program of choice on your PC and copy over whatever you want.

I think it was called SMB share...

Correct, GTA 5 along with other games that depend on a disc install (HD textures and other things) require an installation of the second DVD usually.

yall im torn... ive been hacking away at tales of phantasia GBA (the USA version) and have so many documents of reverse engineering i've done
  • TwoSpikedHands @ TwoSpikedHands:
I just found out that the EU version is better in literally every way, better sound quality, better lighting, and there's even a patch someone made to make the text look nicer
  • TwoSpikedHands @ TwoSpikedHands:
Do I restart now using what i've learned on the EU version since it's a better overall experience? or do I continue with the US version since that is what ive been using, and if someone decides to play my hack, it would most likely be that version?
  • Sicklyboy @ Sicklyboy:
@TwoSpikedHands, I'll preface this with the fact that I know nothing about the game, but, I think it depends on what your goals are. Are you trying to make a definitive version of the game? You may want to refocus your efforts on the EU version then. Or, are you trying to make a better US version? In which case, the only way to make a better US version is to keep on plugging away at that one ;)
  • Sicklyboy @ Sicklyboy:
I'm not familiar with the technicalities of the differences between the two versions, but I'm wondering if at least some of those differences are things that you could port over to the US version in your patch without having to include copyrighted assets from the EU version
  • TwoSpikedHands @ TwoSpikedHands:
@Sicklyboy I am wanting to fully change the game and bend it to my will lol. I would like to eventually have the ability to add more characters, enemies, even have a completely different story if i wanted. I already have the ability to change the tilemaps in the US version, so I can basically make my own map and warp to it in game - so I'm pretty far into it!
  • TwoSpikedHands @ TwoSpikedHands:
I really would like to make a hack that I would enjoy playing, and maybe other people would too. swapping to the EU version would also mean my US friends could not legally play it
  • TwoSpikedHands @ TwoSpikedHands:
I am definitely considering porting over some of the EU features without using the actual ROM itself, tbh that would probably be the best way to go about it... but i'm sad that the voice acting is so.... not good on the US version. May not be a way around that though
