you can use the advanced downloads in modmii to install it to any slot, but im not sure if you can change the slot for mighty channels. You could however install the latest cios to 248 or 250 and use that in config

I'm pretty sure you can specify the slot in the .xml file. Thanks for the suggestions, I really appreciate it.

OK, I have a problem with Monster Hunter Tri (I'm on 4.2U). I am trying to copy the save so I can use it in dolphin. Ive read that you can use savegame manager, but I tried it, it just made a bunch of files that dont work with dolphin. Dolphin has a built in feature to load regular wii save data.bin files, but I cant copy MH3 using the regular wii save data management. I have tried neogamma and gecko OS, neither work with any copy protected saves. Priiloader works with all the saves... Except MH3!!!

Can anyone help?

EDIT: Never Mind, I got the savegame manager extracted save working

Say I get one of the newer Wiis with the D3-2 disc drive or whatever it's called (I'll be going for an older one, but just in case), mod it and unlock the region lock. It's a US Wii. Can I play a legal copy of a JPN GCN title on it?
As far as I know, this is not from personal experience as I have an old white Wii, the D3-2 drives in the the Black Wii's are just physically unable to recognize and read burnt media. The drives can just read pressed media. Region free patching, and disc loaders will work the same way as they do on old Wii's, just only with real, legit, pressed games in your case...

Anyone with a Black Wii, feel free to confirm this...

The new drive removed the ability for the wii to read DVDs, it has nothing to do with regions.

Ok.. I have a 4.3u firmware system. Modded last night with ModMii. Game used was "Indiana Pwns". Everything went beautiful! No errors of any sort.
HomeBrew works beautiful! Downloaded a couple small games to test. Working perfectly.
Next question. I want to play backup games. I know my system is NTSC. I have a few games here on my hdd that are PAL. How do I play them on my Wii?
I don't know how old this thing is. I got it from my sister. She said her kids don't play with it any more. Can't find my serial number sequence in the list to tell how old this is. Can someone tell me? Maybe my system won't run DVD?
Serial #LU607975398

Thanks

ModMii should have an option for setting up loaders.

for usb-loading, launch ModMii's usb-loader set up guide

for backup disc loading (which not all Wii's support) go to ModMii's download page 2 and download neogamma, then use that to play your backup discs (alternatively u could use a usb-loader instead, they support both usb-loading and backup disc loading)

Ok.. I found out my drive is GC2-D2E. This should play backup DVD games, right?

I tried NeoGamma. I got this error:
DVD Read Error 1167

Does that mean there was something wrong with the burn, disk or just a something with the drive?

Also, if my drive does support playing of backup DVD games, can I play both PAL and NTSC?

Yes, a d2e will play backups fine, pal and ntsc

It should be able to play backups, but try this to make sure that you don't have a D3 or newer drive:

QUOTEEasy test: In the latest NeoGamma, remove disc from the drive and select launch game from disc. You will get a read error. If it doesn't say anything about your drive, then it should be old enough.

You should get error 1208, then your drive can play backups.

what do you mean both formats of game? The games need to be placed in a folder titled "wbfs" on the root of your hard drive. They also need to be named a certain way (Title ID). If you dont want to do this manually just use Wii backup manager to copy the games over to your hard drive.

ok so i done all of the above and still no games i put on the wbfs folder use back up manager to transfer thegames on to drive
