Haven't played my wii much since Super Mario Bros around Xmas time...

Reason for my post.... want to catch up on Wiiware but want a solution to the limited memory of the Wii. What's the easiest way? Do I update or should I stay where I am where everything works ok and be using something like this Triforce thing I've just read about to run wiiware direct off the SD card?

I dont think so, boot2 is like the panultimate protection for bricking from what i understand. But a backup cant hurt. Have preloader and DOP-IOS too... I heard those are invaluable.

Dont ever remove an IOS or cIOS, always replace, you may brick your Wii irreperably if you do. It's like the #3 cause of bricking behind soaking and microwaving your wii i believe.

ok so im new to wii modding i love my modded ds and feel ive been putting this off for to long.
i want to play backups preferably from a external hd i lack a dvd burner but have a spare 500gb external
its a wii with firmware 4.1u
what guide should i follow so i can play backups from a external?
are there any games that dont work?
so far ive got nsmb, the guitar heroes and rockbands lego batman and a few others
is there any risk of bricking from my own backups?
is there any risk of bricking from online play or updates?
also i want it user fiendly if possible so my idiot roommate could navigate it and possibly do a backup if inm not around

If you are begining to soft mod your wii, start from the begining of a guide you find at the top of the posting board and like, however long or tedious it may be (don't skip any steps, this can lead to bricks which are unfun) and go with it.
After it has been soft modded then you have options as to how you want your USB HD to run off the Wii. Take into account your firmware when soft modding.
As far as compatibility, the USB method is slightly lower than disk loading but is nearly entirely compatible with the wii's library (there are work around for games that have problems but thats another guide in its own i think).
Backups and updating firmware, or online play as far as i know doesn't brick a wii, nintendo is nice like that, however it can render things like homebrews and softmods moot. Cheating online is grounds for ban (in some games, not all believe it or not).
As for user friendlyness you may have to figure that one out yourself, and simply educate your inempt roommate.

Okay I'm trying to play a game called Sukeban Shachou Rena and when I boot it through Gamma 0.3 I get an Error #002.

I'm on 4.2U w/ the latest HBC and all that jazz, just recently followed the stickied guide to update my 4.0U to 4.2U.

Don't use an outdated loader. The best choice for a new loader is Neogamma R9 beta.

Update to cIOS rev 17 and get the newest Neogamma loader to play the game and give that a try. That usually takes care of the old #002 error. Let us know how it goes.

I got USB Loader and Neothingy but still, I can't load .iso on my external hdd. I tried to put them on the root and also in wbfs folder, no luck.

My hdd is NTFS format but as far as I see, there's no need to swap the all drive in a wbfs format.

Still, both loaders don't see games.

Any idea?

He was talking about something else. You can't directly load a ISO from any loader. You need to convert it to .wbfs. Wii Backup Manager will do that.

I need a little help, I've been trying to get any USB Loader to work with SSB: Brawl, I can get the game to boot up with all the newest versions of 249, and Hermes 222-mload. The problem I'm having is that everything in Brawl works fine, except when I attempt to play Multiplayer, once I select a character, and move on the select a Stage, at the Stage Select screen the game freezes. I have tried to reinstall it on the drive, and it does the same thing. I think it might be common with all my USB Loaded games, certain parts work, while others cause it to freeze. Anyone else have this problem? or any hints on what I could possibly be doing wrong?

Would anyone know if I can follow the softmodding procedure (4.2U) from a mac computer. Basically, if all that is required is dragging and dropping, I'm ok, but if I am required to run an .exe file, I am screwed. Help is appreciated, thanks in advance.
