Sorry this seems to be the correct thread for this

I have a hard-modded wii for my son, am am not keen to mess with softmod/homebrew channel etc.

Given the new protection is known for NSMB, is it now possible to "modify" the iso burn it to a disk so that the wiikey (and only wiikey) can play it ? Will it ever be possible?

thanks in advance?
the answer to your question is in this thread: http://gbatemp.net/index.php?showtopic=189802

Hiya .. thanks for taking the time .. In this thread (which I think i understand) it still mentions the need to "update" your wii in some fashion before the modchip could play the disk.

What i was asking is - Is it not now possible to modify the iso (given the protection is known) to remove it? this meaning it could be played on "vanilla" system with just a modchip?

Sorry if I am missing the blinding obvious!

just follow the instructions for w/e method u want to use to play the game. If u want to play via disc and chip, do w/e it says, if it says to update something, then u have to update something.

u should look into usb loaders, all u need to do is copy the app to your sd card, transfer the ISO of the game to a hard drive, launch the usb loader app, and ur golden

all you have to do is update ios53 with dop-ios mod or use priiloader to skip disc updates. but it looks like that you not in to softmod and rely only on your modchip. i haven't read yet anything about removing the disc update with the iso of NSMB...wiiscrubber???...have not read anything about it yet. try reading the "modchip" category on the link that i had given to you. there are options there on how to run the game using a modchip.

I want to sell my Wii but I don't want to lose my savefiles because I plan to buy another one. I've been laid off by my job(need money... and a new job!) and my wii don't want to recognize any hard drive since my portable HDD broke while using it(started to overheat and stopped being recognized by my Wii or any PCs). I guess my Wii will be good enough for someone who will not hack it and casual players.

Here's the question: If I make a NAND backup and install it on a new Wii (I will buy a brand new one when the cash will flow again, LUA+ I guess, i am a noob.) will it works? If not, I guess I will use the Savefiles transferrer thingy.

Sorry for my English.

My Wii is 4.2U. I softmoded my wii using this guide: Modify any Wii 4.2 & below, aka the simplistic mod
I installed cIOS249 v14 and the MIOS patcher/Gamecube Loader

I bricked a Wii.

I'd done mine (3.1) successfully. I was doing a friend's who was on 4.0. I installed bootmii but only to IOS and not to boot2. I installed one IOS too many via Wad Manager apparently. I rebooted it and nothing but a black screen.

Will a SaveMii recover it or is it not designed for this type of bricking? Anything to be done besides buy him a new Wii?

priiloader? you could find some unbricking methods here: http://sites.google.com/site/completesg/unbricking

No Priiloader installed

I essentially installed all the Wads but not the new system menu via Wad 1.5. There's no modchip on this Wii and it seems I'm missing a key piece to any unbricking method.

Would this Wii even be good for parts now that it is bricked?

if you have a black screen brick then phone nintendo and say you updated over wifi and when it completed you restarted the console and all you got was a black screen and if you're lucky they might send you a reconditioned wii as the new 4.2 update has bricked a few wii's

one game I used was only black and white? Anyone know why?
your tv only supports ntsc and you were running a pal game I think
ah yes. I will try using a ntsc game. Thanks!
why don't you try to force NTSC or AutoPatch video modes in running your PAL games...hope you will not get a green screen in some games though.

What up GBAtemp....I'm a new poster, but I've been lurking on this site for a little over a year now...I don't know why I waited so long to register...In fact, this website put me onto DS flash carts (own the OG R4

), which of course opened my eyes to modding. I know this thread being my first post is REAL n00b stuff, but I'm clueless on Wii modding and I want to get it done so as Christmas present for myself and little brother.

Anyways, I would like to softmod my Wii so that it can play backups off my 250GB external hard drive, that's the only thing I'm concerned with doing. But there's so many guides on the internet that I don't know what to use...Everything from Twilight Princess hack to BootMii, Homebrew Channel, etc. and I don't know what comes first? Can anybody help me out?

Here's some facts that may be needed:
-My Wii is a launch Wii. I don't know what firmware it's on, but it hasn't been connected online in a good year or so since I no longer have my WiFi Router.
-I have an SD card that I can connect to my computer and format.
-I have no trouble following specific instructions for softmodding!

I have version 3.3u and the Twilight Hack installed on my Wii. I would be happy with this set up, but my siblings wanted Wii Fit Plus, which requires a system update to work (no Gecko OS won't block it). I don't currently have BootMii installed, and I've been trying to set it up. I downloaded the files, but I'm unsure of where to put them on my SD card. I honestly can't figure it out, and the installation guide just says to run it from the Homebrew Channel (which I have, but for the life of me I have no idea on what they are talking about). I need to figure this out before I attempt to update my Wii (through the stickied guide) so I don't screw it up so my siblings could play Wii Fit Plus (I have a sprained ankle, so no Wii Fit Plus for me). Thanks for your help!
