Try Gecko OS and set it to force japanese language. You could use SoftChip set to IOS36 too, but that's a little more complicated. Look at WiiBrew for Gecko OS, you need the homebrew channel installed for this.

I have a question about hacks.ini files for preloader. When I turn on my wii and get into the preloader menu it tells me i've got systemmenu v257 and preloader v0.28. If i Go to the Systemmenu hacks option it tells me, "No hacks for your systemmenu version(v257) were found." I've seen a bunch of different hacks.ini files, but in all of them the versions is either v289 or v290. Are there any hacks for v257?

Hi everyone,
(I posted this elsewhere but figured it might belong here)

I am running Firmware 3.4 on my NTSC USA Wii. I am getting my Mod Chip in two weeks. I have tried the Twilight Hack on my Wii and it is not working. it keeps on saying failure to load boot.dol

says boot.dol not found (-1) reading boot.elf
failed to read boot.elf
no code found to load..hanging

So that is what it keeps saying so someone who has been helping me is speculating that I need the elf installer in elf format to make it work..if anyone can help me I would really appreciate it..thank U

Started out with JPN WiiKey and have successfully installed HomeBrew & AnyRegion changer...
Have updated my WiiKey to PAL (via disc & checked via Config Disc) updated with ARC to 3.2E / Pal etc Success all is well
apart from a 'few' Jap characters in the Weather channel, now Region Free thanks to Starfield

Last step need help with is locate the 'Real Serial #' (Tied to JPN shop) > Move to UK shop etc

Found 'PinkFish' can load it but wants to update (IOS16 and obviously NTSC) have tried a few things with the PinkFish but it appears to be unable to be WebBrick blocked and is in a non standard format.

K so installed 'Softmod' as have read reports on here of success loading this on a PAL system,
I got errors (maybe a bad burn but on 2 discs?) so...

If I allow update will 'PinkFish' disc cause 'semi brick' - as this is not a Game (I have a feeling it will)?

If so what are my options,

1 - are there any PAL versions of disc (looked but didn't find)
2 - use ARC/WiiKey Update NTSC (USA)/ Use PinkFish, locate serial and then do it all again (seems like a lot of effort
3 - give up it's REALLY not worth the effort for the WiiShop?? (Remember I just spent 1 year on Jap Menus)

I HAVE read loads on here and could not have got anywhere without the masterful people, contributers, hackers etc. I dont consider myself a 'noob' but this is definately the best place for me to post this without getting flamed.

I saw if I install the IOS55 WAD file via WAD Manager I can have all the compatibility of 3.4 on my 3.2 ?

Or just for Games?
(So no faster SD card copy etc)

Installing IOS55 will do absolutely nothing if you install it. Sysmenu 3.2 uses IOS30.
It's like saying... Linux can load my web pages faster than Windows, installing Linux, then booting into Windows expecting faster page loading.

You can get all WiiGator products @ his GBATemp Blog. and DVD+Rs have always worked. You need to research bitsetting for whatever burner you have in your pc, most but not all burners support this.

Mostly trial and error really, need to find what works best for you. I usually go a step back from whatever the media is rated. For example, 16x media, I'll burn @ 12x. Here's some info from DigitalFAQ.com

Myth of burning slower. Discs are made to perform at an ideal rotational speed, which is where write strategy originates. The disc will perform best up to a certain speed, and the drive will not permit any faster. The inverse is the same, but until recently, drives would not prevent unreasonably low speeds. Modern human nature tends to want more speed and more power, so this was not really a concern.

But believe it or not, there are still people who insist on waiting 55-60 minutes to burn a CD or DVD at 1x speed, because they are convinced anything faster will yield a bad or "lower" quality burn. However, burning too slow is often just as bad as burning too fast. Because of this unreasonable impulse to go too slow, some discs and drives now block out the lower range too.

For the most part no... Why don't you upgrade to 3.2?

Do you have the HBC Installer boot.dol file in the root of you SD card?

Sounds to me like you downgraded. 1.0.1 is the latest, you're now 2 versions behind. GBATemp has a downloads section. Look there for WadManager.

You can find an old game with 3.1/3.2 and let it update, or rip the news and forcast wads from it if you're not that brave.

yes, but you can't have them in the same IOS slot. I did this once before with cIOS36rev7 installed to the default 249, and a cIOS37 installed to 248.

I have problems with getting DVDX show among channels.

I downgraded to 3.2, I run DVDX from HBbrowser, installation completes successfully. Channel does not appear.

Also, where/how can I get more channels?

HELP!!! I tried using NuGaSa on an official Nintendo GC card, and 1- it didn't do a backup, and 2- my memory card is now corrupted! Is there a was to recover my saves, or at least format the card so it works again? It's the only one I have...

Put your original 00000042.app file, you were supoused to do a FS_Dump before start messing around with this, or just install the SysMenu.wad that you use for creating the health screens with Healtii, or simply upgrade and then use cIOS and IOS downgraders to go back to 3.2...!!

IOS55 is used by NFS:Undercover, IOS50 is the one used by SysMenu_3.4....!!!
