I have a quick question with reference to Emulators. I've loaded them all on my SD card but I want to boot a FULL list of games from a DVD disc. I read that they have to be in ISO9660 format? I don't exactly know what that means... I cannot just burn the games to the disc and play them? The DVD has to me made a special way? Any help is greatly appreicated!

For roms burning them in data mode should just work and for ISO's use either NeroImg burn or Active ISO burner. I also notice the type of brand of blanks you use effect whether they'll read or not. Verbatim usually works 98% of the time. Last bit here you should always try to burn at 4X speed to prevent errors. Hope that helps.

Hi guys,

Very newbie-ish question here. I've been using Wiikey 1st gen and my Wii is 3.3U, but I noticed that I kept having Disc Read Errors with new games like Sonic Unleashed, etc, so I'm keen to try out the softmod.

I'm planning to use the Twilight hack, but just wondering.. do I really need to have the ORIGINAL disc of TP, or can I just use a backup disc instead? From where I'm living, it's hard to get old original games like TP.. unless there are other alternatives?

Well the disc read errors on softmod is because of bad media or burn, but if you're sure you're using the right media/speed, then do the softmod using a copy of the zelda TP, no need for a retail disc

Thanks for the reply! Actually I'm using Wiikey and I've not started using softmod yet, and I got a lot of Disc Read errors from it lately.

Anyway one more question: if I were to use a backup copy of Zelda TP to do the softmod hack, which version öf data.bin should I be using? From the instructions: "USA users, additionally, need to determine the correct save slot to load once inside Twilight Princess." Really noobish question, but what's correct save slot and how do I check that out? Both my Wii and the Zelda TP backup copy are NTSC/USA.

Wow, I'm so outdated right now. I'll be downloading the new Gamma 002fix but what exactly is cIOS? I keep hearing this, but I never really researched it. I'm going to downgrade my Wii to 3.2 as soon as I get home and install Gamma 002fix onto my Wii but how do I install the cIOS?

the cIOS is a custom IOS, every thing (channel or game discs wise) use a different IOS, by example if you are on 3.2 FW the SysMenu hangs on IOS30, the weather channels hangs on IOS36 (just and example don't remember the actual IOS) and the Zelda TP hangs from IOS9 and so on and on......

well the Gamma Launcher hangs from IOS249, wich is a copy of the IOS36 but modified, made custom that is why cIOS36_r7 (or r8 the newer) or cIOS249 or IOS249 are the same, easy, no cIOS no launcher, got it..??

Wait, Gamma 002fix is newer than Gamma 0.3?
And ether2802 thanks for the trucha answer. I asked because I found a trucha021.wad around the webz

well it is actually the same launcher but added the fix for the games with a 002 error, so need of it unless you have a game that gives you that error, and the trucha signer is a PC tool, I really don't know what da' hell is that .wad file, better ask where you find it, cause I never heard of it before

Easy, choose the first slot (TH0) if it doesn't work, then use the second slot (TH2), but I really think it is going to be the TH0 cause the rip most be old, unless someone else has ripped it for you from a newer and recently boughted copy...!!

Yes Gamma has ocarina integraded, or better yet for modchip users no need of using Gamma, use GeckOS 1.7b (Gamma is actually a copy of it)..!!

I tried using the Gecko OS with the error 002 fixed but now it gives me:

Exception (ISI) occured!

etc
etc lots of other numbers and codes

Mmmm.... then install the ios249_r7.wad and use the Gamma Launcher 002fix, if you are at 3.4 you need to install IOS16 first and then use Custom Wad Manager to get ios249_r7.wad installed..!!!

Sure this has been asked a thousand times before but I was struggling to get a succinct answer. So noobing away...

1) Currently have Softwmod NSTC Wii running 3.2U and the 0.3 Gamma backup loader. This has always worked perfectly and plays backups without issue.

2) My boys are round this weekend and want to play some of the newer games...... specifically madworld, pikmin, Technu, hotd, pes (should be a cool weekend
smile.gif
)

From lots of reading I believe that I need to replace the 0.3 gamma backup loader with the updated one with the 002 fix. I also need to install some CIOS files (?)

For the backup loader is it really as simple as just removing the current one (or even just moving it off the front screen) and adding the updated one?

For the CIOS is there a single 'install' I can do that will add all of the missing IOS versions or do I need to add them individually? Apart from looking at the IOS on each ISO is there a way to know which ones I need? I understand that there is no CIOS linking on the board but is there an app that downloads all your missing ones or is google my friend? If I need to find them is there somewhere I can find a list of released CIOS versions I should be searching for?

I'm assuming that the IOS is basically the firmware update? So if I install the missing files then any software I run on my machine will 'believe' that it is on 3.4 machines for example.

Appreciate someone sharing the knowledge.....

TIA

No cIOS needed just the launcher either as a .dol file for using it thru the HBC or as .wad to install as a channel in the main menu

For the backup loader is it really as simple as just removing the current one (or even just moving it off the front screen) and adding the updated one?
if you use the .dol thru the HBC yes just replace the file, if you use it as a channel, you need to uninstall it, or delete it, and then install the updated one

When you use the Gamma Launcher you just need to have the IOS249 (cIOS36_r7 or r_8)

IOS = Input Output System, wich is kind of an OS, your wii has many of those, and each one has a different version and is on a different slot (IOS249-64-v7, IOS36-64-v1042, etc etc..) an each one serves to a different aplication or game or channel, Eg. Zelda TP hangs of IOS9, HBC hangs of IOS36, the SysMenu on 3.2 hangs of IOS30, MadWorld hangs of IOS53 (legit copy) the Gamma Launcher uses IOS249, wich is a cIOS (Custom IOS) and every game run ti thru the launcher, will use that IOS249

I just realized. I should probably load it through gamma channel like my copies. but still if there's a way to bypass it without going through the gamma channel i'd rather do that.

Can someone please help me I think I majorly messed up my Wii... I installed the SoftMii pack and the Wii was working great but I went to access the shop channel and it said I needed to update. I formatted my system memory and now when I turn on my Wii it says:

Error booting systemmenu!
Ticket not found

And it loads me to the preloader menu! I was able to reinstall the homebrew channel and can gain access to that but I cannot get back to the normal system menu! I found a tutorial on this same problem but I cannot locate files to help me. If anyone can PM me with files/instructions that would save my Wii I would be so grateful!

I have an NTSC system, and I guess I need to locate a 3.2 v289.wad ----------- Here is the instructions I supposedly need to follow, I just need the files to make it work, anyone please save me!

6. Now you have to locate an system menu .wad that you can install via the Homebrew Channel (Well not really through HBC, its through WAD-manager.)
Try searching: 3.2 v290.wad (3.2v289 for NTSC) and download the first you find.

Now here is the painful part.

7.First, you need an System Menu update ISO, This can be downloaded anywhere just type in this to google
: "3.2 290.wad download" (3.2 289.wad if its NTSC)

8. Extract the files wherever you'd like them to be.

9. Now, download any type of ISO-reader/scrubber/anything
I went with Wiiscrubber. Download it by googling it.

10.Okay now we have to dig into that ISO you just downloaded by using your Wiiscrubber.
10a.Load the ISO you downloaded.
10b.The wiiscrubber window is two smaller screens if its correct. You only need to do anything on the one above.
10c. Click on the + left of the Partition:1, you should see about 9 things popping up.
10d. Click on the + left of the _sys and an IOS30-64etc and SystemMenu-v290 (for PAL) should pop up.
10e. Extract these two by right clicking them one at a time.

11. Place these inside your SD-card [FILE DIRECTORY: WAD]If you dont have that on your SD you can download them here:Downloads

12. Go over to your wii and plug in your SD-card.

13. Now, go into homebrew channel and start WAD manager.

14. Load the files:IOS30-64etc and SystemMenu-v???
14a. IMPORTANT!!! LOAD IOS30-64 FIRST!!!! Then SystemMenu.

1) Is there a homebrew application that allows you to properly copy GC saves from a GC Memory Card to a SD card and vice versa?

2) What's the safest application that allows you to use cheats in Wii and/or GC games?

And tj_cool: Thanks for your answers!

Just install the CIOScorp pack, no need to unistall anything at all, and the preloader region free patch sucks, so you'll need to use the AnyRegionChanger1.1b_mod5 from the softmii package to reinstall a SysMenu3.2 from your region before CIOScorp, say NO to the korean support and YES to the hacks, use first the Any Region Changer and the install the CIOScorp, finally install preloader to complete your softmod with a cherry at the top..!!

Use Starfall or Preloader to block updates from discs (preloader FTW)

Well you actually have bricked your Wii, so give thanks to Crediar for preloader, cause it save your @$$, and the tutorial is pretty much true all, you can also use cIOS downgrader or the Any Region Changer that came in the softmii package to get the same results, after this just search for the WiiShop/IOS50 installer or something like that at wiibrew.org, run it to re-gain access to your WiiShop channel, and then re-install preloader, and if you are going to update again, you need to get rid of preloader first by using cIOS downgrader or AnyRegionChanger to re-install a SysMenu...!!!

, and for cheats on Wii games you can use ocarina or the Gamma launcher (cIOS249_r7 or r8 needed), and if you have a ModChip then just use GeckOS 1.7b...!!

Oh my goodness! I have no idea where to get these files though to revive my Wii let alone extra files to bypass other stuff. Could you possibly save me and PM me somewhere to get the files to get my Wii back up and running? I've searched everywhere but cannot find anything! Whenever I load Any Region Changer it says ret -116, something about failure to connect to the internet? I have a wireless connection going in my home I just don't know how to configure it while my Wii is bricked to get the Any Region Changer working. If you can help me through that I guess I will be fine?

Any Region Changer will restore my Wii?
