Hi. I am currently on 3.3e with a wiikey2, bootmii ios and geckos os installed. I want to play the latest wii games and install USB loader without upgrading to the latest 4.0 menu for the time being. For playing the latest wii games, if I just install cIOS36_rev10, will it have all the necessary IOSs to play the latest games? As for the USB Loader, I can just download the USBloader GX boot.dol file and install through hombrewchannel right? do I need to install anything else?

Also, at what stage should I install preloader 0.29 for brick protection? Should I install before cIOS36?

it has no real use to not upgrade to 4.0, you can just do it (not via nintendo of course) without any disadvantages.

cios rev10 will do the job, but you can also use rev13a\

after that, you can just use the dol file like any other one...


but begin with preloader, and after that you are a little more brick safe...

With Conduit and WiiMotionPlus games coming out I'm looking for some advice on how to upgrade without losing my trucha vulnerable IOS and without using a cIOS.

I understand launching new games via GeckoOS will install missing updates.

- Will it also upgrade my trucha vulnerable versions?
- If I install the missing updates will I get upgraded to System Menu 4.0?
- After installing the missing updates via GeckoOS will I be prompted to update if I launch the game without GeckoOS?

Im trying to run gcn backups with gcn backup launcher 0.2 and it always say: error 263 NO DISK.

But there is a DVD-R in the wii and i know its well burned(i tried with 3 different DVDs).

Whats the problem??

Well what is your usb hdd?
I use USB loader by waninkoko 1.5. with a 2.5 WD passport.
USB loader for me is perfect so far - no hiccups or anything, yet faster loadups - Id switch to USB anyday and I retired my SSBB disc which is scratched to hell from constant abuse.

Ah sorry man, I had linked to a hard drive, don't know where the link went! But, it WAS a WD Passport (80GB) so that's good then! Cheers

If you use a loader to play a PAL game on a NTSC Wii, will there be progressive scan still? =X

'cuz when my Wii isn't in progressive scan mode, there's a huuuge delay/lag from my HDTV (and it doesn't have a game mode) but yeah.

I am considering upgrading to 4.0 now, but my preference is to use the official Nintendo update since I don't really understand fully the reasoning behind installing some of the files used for the wanikoko 4.0 update guide. so my preference is to upgrade using the official update.

If I were to update this way, would it work?

1. Install preloader 0.29
2. Install cIOS36_rev10 using the homebrew channel.
3. Update using the official nintendo update using the wii online update option.
4. using IOS downgrader to get the Trucha bug
5. Install preloader 0.29
6. Install USBloader GX boot.dol

Hey, I'm new on the forums, but have been using home brew for awhile.

I simply had a version 3.4 system and wanted to revert to a 3.2. By following "Downgrade wii firmware WORKS WITH 4.0!" on http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tUiHK4-LNlA , I was able to get version 3.2u! Wooh! Everything went to plan except one flaw.

This error happened. Usually I can fix it with the magical wonderful search bar, but today I almost threw up trying to get though the menus...

noob here. after reading for hours now, my eyes hurt so if someone can shed some light, that would be cool.

i have a wii with system firmware 3.1U and Serial is LU58. Can someone please direct me to the right tutorial and a dependable source to get the files to softmod my wii. i want to play wii backups and hombrew games. I've softmod a psp, ps2, and an xbox360. also, what are the likely hood of me bricking it? thanks all for the input and help.

my wii is broken i think. I softmodded my Wii, and I put Wii Fit in and it said cannot read disc. Also, I installed a Cocoto Platform Jumper wad and it said channel cannot be used. HELP.

you can use this guide: http://gbatemp.net/index.php?showtopic=118446 but it doesn't contain the needed files so google them
you can skip the preparation and step 3
If you want brick protection, get preloader or bootmii
you can install any cIOS after you're done
instead of having a custom wad manager, use Wad manager 1.4 and choose IOS16

I'm having quite a lot of problems installing preloader. I mean people use so much terms like.. I just wanna play the newest backups on my wii... GOD.. NAND, cios, hacks, etc. I've been through all the forums so much I feel like I could fire lazors from my eyes.

So in short. What hacks should I put in the hack.ini? do I need to downgrade my ios? (I have 3.2U and never upgraded from there). is there anything else I should know?
