Hacking No Web Browser

Hi, i recently bought a 3ds off kijij for $50, the problem is, is the 3ds has never been updated ever so it was at 2.2.0-0U. so i know you need to use the web browser to get the flash to work if you dont have a gateway which i dont have. the console is now at 8.1.0-0u, is there anyway i can flash it without a GW or Web browser ??

Edit: i updated the 3ds through super smash bros game cart not the internet

edit: close this please, i updated the ds and will get my other ds hardmodded

If you updated to 8.1 it should already have the browser. Browser was included in 2.x or 3.x

You shouldn't have updated from a cart. Now you're completely... well, it's not going to be usable.

Should have updated to 4.x to be honest. You could have launched gateway via DS profile exploit. Web browser should be dumpable from someone else's system as a legit cia and then installed via ninjhax exploit? Then he can do downgrade back to 4.5

ahh i see but if i stayed at 2.2.0 i still wouldnt have a browser so i wouldnt be able to flash the 3ds. i guess ill just have to find a gateway cart and downgarde it through that and hope the downgrade installs the web browser

No, you can't do anything to it now.

i dont have a GW nor a cubic ninja cart, i was relying solely on the web browser, as long as i dont end up over 9.2.0-20u i should be okay to downgarde with the GW cart

Your only option was to update to 4.x by cart. You updated to 8.1 instead, now you have zero options.

oh okay i see, it still wouldnt have worked unless i had a game cart that brought me to 4 which i didnt so its fine, ill just get my other 3ds hard modded and install the back up 6 nand

Browser isn't required for ninjhax...Uses internet and QR code, doesn't actually launch the browser to download, that's part of the payload.

Interesting. Would be interested to know what would happen with browser out of the picture with a CN cart that has exploit already installed...Just simply crash without loading anything?

Gets to 40% or 60% and stops there. No browser means no ninjhax.*

It does, but only for New 3DSes (and even then, only Gateway makes use of it). Nobody's bothered to do anything with it for old 3DSes publicly yet, as far as I am aware.

Just wait until the next Gateway update (Soon). Porting their OOT hax to old 3ds shouldn't be that difficult for them, and they mentioned it in their last blog post so good chance it'll happen.

A system on 4.x does not require the Browser to access the exploit of GW. Any other system 5.x+ requires the Browser, since yours is 8.x. Your screwed now as you cannot get into the Browser to perform a downgrade. Sorry bud.

the key to success with softmodding a new console is to do a butt tonne of research before you mess around with it.
