my ps3 shut off one day after installing something from my homebrew and eversince it would never boot to the xmb. so 9 months later i formart the hdd in my computer to fat 32, MBR, and stick it back inside the ps3s slot. and its says when i try to use an option in recovery mode that there was no storage device to access, so i then download the latest update from sonys site onto my external harddrive in the correct paths all caps. after all this it keeps telling me "no applicable update data was found".
is it my external harddrive not getting power? or is it the hdd because my hdd has shown up on my pc just fine after some tweaking. please help me out, and thanks in advance.
also, due to alot of jailbreaking stuff being done to this thing i may have installed cobra or rebug software on the device.i just dont seem to remember which version software it left on before it turned off. do i need to install that exact firmware or cant i just use the latest on the site? thanks again.
