I finally transferred my save data for Nintendo Puzzle Collection over from Devolution and into Nintendont so that I can use the incomplete English translation for the game, but I discovered something unfortunate the first time I actually tried to legitimately play Panel de Pon in Nintendo Puzzle Collection...

...the input lag for classic controllers connected via a wiimote is worse on Nintendont than it is on Devolution.

On Devolution, using a classic controller connected via a wiimote gives input lag seemingly similar to if you played the game natively in GameCube mode on a Wii with a Wavebird controller, but on Nintendont it feels much more comparable to the Wii virtual console copy of Panel de Pon for SNES (which, presumably due to the SNES emulation, I've always noticed to have more input lag than the Panel de Pon in Nintendo Puzzle Collection played via Devolution even when using classic controllers connected via wiimotes for both games).

And no, using a GameCube controller is a poor substitute considering that this is one of those dpad-heavy games (if you aren't aware, Panel de Pon is the original Japanese game title for the game Tetris Attack).

So yeah...this is unfortunate. I don't suppose it's a known thing and that there's any possibility of this situation improving in the future?

no one ever complained about input lag on nintendont at all, only experts that played ssbm competitively and those use gc controller and native mode so no this wont be fixed because it cant, when using controllers that arent gc controller through gc ports you are emulating the controller code, so it will always be some ms delay compared to native.

Hey, sorry if this question has already been answered. Lot of results for keywords like "widescreen"...

I'm using Nintendont on a Wii U. Is it possible to set the widescreen setting to only games that support it? It seems like when I change the settings to widescreen, it does this for every game. Or is the only option to change the settings every time I start Nintendont?

no since nintendont doesnt have a list for games with native widescreen, you need to check it yourself and then enable it or not.

all nintendont settings afeect every game, also setting widescreen on nintendont setting is an hack, games wich have native widescreen support shouldnt have that set since it will be worse.

Of course, but this still doesn't explain why there seems to be a considerably larger difference in input lag between native GC controller and wiimote+classic controller in Nintendont than there is in Devolution.

I don't have actual numbers, but as an example of how I perceive the difference it feels kind of like the following (I'm using absolute numbers merely as an easy way to differentiate the gaps):

native gc: 5ms
wiimote+cc via Devolution: 10ms
wiimote+cc via SNES VC: 30ms
wiimote+cc via Nintendont: 35ms

I would be happy to provide actual input lag numbers if I could, but I don't own any camera or smart device capable of recording at greater than 60fps so my results would have a margin of error of a whopping 16.67ms.

Sometimes the buttons get mixed up when using the wii u gamepad. Like, "B" works for "A" - and it will switch in the middle of a game. Has anyone else had this issue and know how to resolve it?

It happens if you press the minus button. Just press it again to switch them back. It's a feature of Nintendont as some people like the buttons switched.

you can get all the timings you want it wont change anything, the stuff is as it is and wont be changed.
nintendont and devolution are 2 very diferent programs, and devolution is closed source.

Two questions...

1. Is there a way to manually change the background for the official Nintendont app? (I mean, even if it requires building it from source while changing a file or two.) I tried using the MMMod forked version of Nintendont which is cool, but it does some odd things on my Wii U.

2. Any hacks / modifications, to make the video output so that it would essentially be "pixel-perfect" on the Wii-U gamepad? I know in the settings you can change the width of the image... Would there be any way to also change the height? Any way to make the pixel ration 1:1?

1-no
2- there is a game pixel perfect which you should just set the video to auto or none and you get the game resolution as intended then you can use width to grow to the sides and center position if the camera is off-centered but those are hacks and can break games, and no there is no way to make games increase in height like they do in width.

When I try booting a game it will have the virtual memory screen come up and then just a black screen, like the wii will shut down. I've followed the instructions, not sure what I'm running into.

okay, it is working from homebrew channel going directly into nintendont, but not when using usbloadergx

anybody know why this in an issue?

SD:\apps\nintendont\boot.dol , icon.png , meta.xml
SD:\apps\USBLoaderGX\boot.dol , icon.png , meta.xml And other stuff.
SD:\Games\Luigis Mansion\game.iso
USB:\Games\Luigis Mansion\game.iso

SD Card Fat32 32K Clusters

Followed everything from multiple guides and my paths are correct, could it be the sd card? I'm out of ideas
make sure you got a compatible usbloader version with nintendont, i remenber some versions stopped working with certain nintendont versions.

wiiu pro controller is coded in it needs no config, make sure you dont have any usb controller connected to your usb ports since they take player one, also injected games the wiiugamepad if you chose to use it will take player one aswhell.

make sure native control is turned off, and you need to sinc the wiiu pro controller in the wiiu menu before hand(only one time) then launch nintendont press A on the wiiu pro on nintendont menu and pick a game, if game starts and wiiu pro shutsdown press A again.

Also fake&3rd partys wiiu pro controllers arent garanteed to work.
