I'm having an issue trying to use the PS4 controller with r42 on the Wii U. It's saying that the HID failed to initiate and then the Wii U restarts. I put the controller.ini for the PS4 controller in the root of the USB drive, I tried starting the game with HID both On and Off, and I pressed the PS button before starting the game (even though that makes no visible light on the controller light up,) I plugged the controller into the back USB port (the bottom port, top one is the only one that works for the HDD)... Nothing works. I get the same error every time.

Does anyone know why this is happening, and if I'm missing something?

It has nothing to do with the config. Your hid device has to start regardless of improper input mapping (which isn´t the issue). Try with previous releases and see for yourself. Maybe something changed within the most recent releases; I can´t provide you a proper fix now as i am unfamiliar with these new nintendont releases, i will test for myself and provide a solution for the ps4 controller.

game compatibility isn't going to change for quite a while

usb not happening for a while.... dsp's fixed first ... compatibility not going to change....
i wonder where you get you forsight from ?
usb support came with all dsp's fixed ... so going by your 'quite a while' , from your previous predictions , i am going to assume compatibility is next and within a month

I assume the Mayflash CCPro USB Adapter works decently seeing as there's a config file for it; has anyone been able to get a definitive test (or rather, a conclusion) to know if it's worth getting?

I just tested my ps4 controller configuration on nintendont r44, its fully working. That being said, you need to check your set-up as the problem is certainly on your end.

USB support was added without the knowledge of anyone. We weren't even suppose to have the usb release but someone leaked it. OJ was forced to upload it.

I would like to see memory card emulation next. It barely works

The sound and title screen freezing are fixed, but freezes randomly e_e
What game has has its compatibility fixed besides luigi's mansion

I have always wondered about that adapter. I just dont want to blow money on it and it ended up sucking.

So I did a bit more testing with WaveBird and here's what I got:
Wii 4.3u, NDT r44, no HID device in any USB port, HID off. Game: Luigi's Mansion/RE4
WaveBird:
Trigger_R (and sometimes L) become stuck in a continuous 1-10% depression when CstickX/Y is activated at the same time;
e.i. sucking ghosts and moving the Cstick (flashlight) around will result in a Luigi constantly sucking ghosts, even when all buttons have been fully depress.
This can also be found in RE4. If Leon aims (triggerR) and looks around (Cstick) he will permanently stay in aims mode while walking around.
One way to reset the trigger analog values in-game, is to move around the Cstick to it fullest range.
I've tried both games with DiosMios 2.10 & RVL_Mios_v10 and the WaveBird input behaves correctly.
Not sure about this one, but can it be due to CstickY/X & L/Rshoulder both def as s16?
Bongos: DK Jungle Beat
Similar situation, the left drum (Lstick-x) is stuck in a loop and clap doesn't work. (No Mic support yet)
If I remember correctly (in HBC), right drum=GC (X)/Wiimote(1), left drum=GC (Y)/Wiimote(2).
On the other hand MaxPads is working correctly. Note: All GC controllers must be plugged in before loading game.

It does a good job, you must activate it by pressing any button when loading games in Nintendont; similar to the PS3 controller. Downside is no analog triggers, but works well on PC/Linux.

Can I use the adapter then use a classic controller to gamecube adapter?

I'm very sorry. I read your post incorrectly. I thought you were talking about Mayflash WiiUPro Adapter. I have tried this CC adapter but I got mix values in the HID test, even on PC it would work 70% of the time.

No analog triggers as in, unable to use the R/L buttons at all?

Hey, i just got myself a case to use one of my old laptop's HDD as an external drive for the wii, and already loaded it with a couple of different games than those i tested before.. but i'm still getting the goddamn black screen even though i updated nintendont to the latest svn. The good news are I can already get to the list of games and even change the settings.. but it's all kinda pointless if none of my games are gonna work.

I've read that Wii Family Edition should still be able to play GC games even if it lacks the GC controller ports and can't read GC discs, so I don't get it at all.. is it really an app that won't work on my wii or i'm just being incredibly unlucky? has someone else tried a Family Edition with good results?
