If Wii U mode can switch all the hardware, I would imagine that you can switch partially the hardware...

That's assuming you'd have control of the necessary hardware at the kernel level. We also wouldn't have access to USB, and SD only if one has SSB4

It would be pretty amazing to have Nintendon't running in Wii U mode, though

I'm pretty sure the Wii mode is enough for Gamecube games.. I mean the only good thing on the Wii U Mode would be the ability to play through the gamepad!

Even faster clock speeds and SMP but im pretty sure that would render most gcn games unplayable (overkill lol)

We have to assume that nintendos new console is only backwards compatible to play WiiU games, Therefore having nintendont work in WiiU mode would probably ensure that we can use nintendont also on the new console

It would likely take a lot of tweaking for the reasons above. Not saying its impossible....

If ninty's next console is still ppc based nintendont type programs would be possible fir "restoring" backward compatibility

Actually if it is really PPC based there's no reason for nintendo not to include at least also Wii support. I mean, why is there no GC support on WiiU? Because they didn't want to include a drive that is capable of reading small disky, because they didn't want to add ugly GC controller ports and because they didn't want to add mem card slots. But this is different with the Wii. If you want to include Wii supoort on the new system you don't have to add hardware, just software. They just have to add two sandboxed systems, one virtual Wii and one virtual WiiU.

Is the official GC Adapter for the Wii U currently the only way to have vibration?
I'm looking for a way to have vibration on official GC controllers and also running Wii / GC games from USB via Nintendont on my vWii ... but afaik I'm one USB port short for this plan correct?

Does the GC adapter need both USB ports to power the vibration for one GC controller? Or are only both ports needed if you want 4 vibrating controllers?

I want to plan this a little before spending that much cash just to realise that I need both USB ports and have no way to load my games (and no I'm not buying a large SD card just for this :D).

So how many controllers can vibrate with only one USB cable connected from the adapter? And what about the Wavebirds? Does the sender suck up as much power as the motor from a wired GC controller?

    Thx

Correct, you don't need both unless you want vibration, so USB port one powers them, the other sends the force feedback :P

thegrey cable powers the vibration of all controllers while the black one does the button input so yeah you need 2 usb doors to get rumble, you probably can get another device with a usb port acess near your wii and conenct the grey cable there for extra power.

What about vibration on other controllers? Does the Wii U Pro controller vibrate? If so, I see my money more on that side.

And it works via bluetooth correct? It doesn't need to be plugged into the USB port to rumble right?

What about funny games like MGS: Twin Snakes which wants you switch the controller port in mid-game? Can you do such stunts with the Pro Controller? Or is this the pro / cons part when it comes to comparing both options ? :D

Implying that the GC adapter supports port switching during runtime of course.

    Thx

It's mine too and I like that you can simulate a half pressed L or R trigger by holding the "L" button on the Wii U Pro Controller for games like Super Mario Sunshine when you need to spray and run at the same time.

On a side note, one benefit to using Wii U mode would be having the extra RAM to use larger memory cards like the 16MB one.

Also if Nintendo wanted to make a sleek console and not have extra ports they could have easily made wireless GameCube controllers with BlueTooth and use virtual memory cards like the PS3 uses for PSX and PS2 games. On the Wi U there really is no reason not to have GameCube Virtual console games.
