I think that is because of Windows..
Windows likes it as a standard and people think it is easier because of that.

ive only ever used windows xp/7 and 8 to deal with my hard drives and its never been a problem. if anything its simple because its all on one fat32 partition working with almost everything available for the wii/vwii

At least most people aren't using that horrible WBFS anymore...

Wait wait wait...
Let's see if I recall correctly...

NTFS allows USB/HDD/SD to have files above 4 GB in just one single file, right?
FAT32 and others do not allow you to have above that amount of size stored in one single file.

For Wii games, if you use Wii BackUp Manager, you can convert the ISOs to .wbfs format, and then the files will be split in like 2 or more WBFS files for games like Metroid Other M or Brawl. NGC games are ALWAYS below 1.4 GB, no there is no need.
In short words, NTFS is NOT needed if you only have files backed up below 4GB or so, I am talking files in general, not only Wii related stuff.

Of course... If you have HDDs and use them for multiple purposes like storing goddamn extended version of Lord of the Rings in Blu Ray format, then OF COURSE you will need that forsaken NTFS.

Out of that, meh...
I have FAT32 (I think) and haven't been in the need of NTFS at all.

Are we really comparing file systems?

Regardless, you should stick to FAT32 because it is most compatible with homebrew. Even if NTFS support was implemented, other homebrew would not necessarily support it.

And that's another thing, the games are so small, and unless you've 2,000,000+ games on your HDD, there's no reason shrink already-small ISO images.
I guess so, though I like to think that if I've gone to the effort of buying a large hard drive, it would be a waste to then have it occupied by junk data. There's nothing to lose by trimming, so why not?

For example, Crazy Taxi is 1.2GB untrimmed, around 150MB trimmed.

Actually... There IS something to lose with trimming.
As we have seen with several reports, trimming the ISO (or shrinking it) might cause the game to not be compatible with the app anymore.
So that's why it is always recommended to use 1:1 ISOs.

I understand that. But that's what the compatibility list is for, right? Every single one of my games is trimmed and there have been no issues.

Yep that's right.
I agree with you, if the trimming saves space like with Crazy Taxi or Luigi's Mansion, then go for it.

But always taking into consideration the compatibility for the trimmed ISO first!

Just 1 thing i can't seem to get to work:
I have RE 4 (US) and the +11 trainer from weedcube, when i burn the iso, it works on the gamecube, but in nintendont it get stuck on the trainerscreen, nothing will happen, have to reset the Wii
I have repatched a clean re4 rip, but it's the same. The trainer can be found here: Eurasia (No roms are hsoted there)

I know it's not that important, but it would be great if it worked ;)

thats okay thanks for trying. did you actually manage to get the ps4 bt connected to the vwii at all (i dont mean inside nintendont)? just curiouse as i couldnt get either the pairing .dol to appear in homebrew channel

yeah the pairing worked and I could even use the controller wirelessly in USBLGX while a Wiimote was connected,
I already compiled the pairing tools and made HBC icons for them, they are included in my USBLGX 1239 mod, you can check GX thread in Wii Backup Loaders section for more info

I beat Resident Evil 4 on Nintendont using cheats from wiird from the beginning til the end with no problems (unlimited money and weapon).

Cheats to increase Ada and Cherry's breasts make the game freeze. :shy:
