A bit too quick, the 3ds took 4-5 years to get the bootrom, or was it actually kept private ?

Would you RATHER it come in 4-5 years? The sooner the better.

Doubt it would be called BOOTTegraStrap as a system of similar functionality to the user would be a totally different beast compared to the 3DS. As such, all you'd achieve is confusion and painful volumes of miss-information.

Besides, the chances of the bootrom bricking itself are very low.
