I checked my DSi yesterday to see if there was an update, call it curiosity, and there was, I took it but it didn't have any effect on my Acekard 2i, has any one else noticed this and if so what dose the update do?

FYI: not sure if this was the place to post this!

Did the bar only get a single block filled and did your DSi then turn off? That isn't an update, as GreatCrippler said, the firmware gets no updates at all.

I hope to see a new firmware update soon though, one that blocks all flashcards once and for all. Then we will see who has the courage and strength to pull through and update the flashcard's kernel once more.

ontopic. it updates like the wii, first it checks the web (wich shows as progress) but if it doesn't find anything it quits.

At this point in the DSi's life I can't see the point in another update which will block flashcarts. There's not a huge reason for people to update, it will simply cost Nintendo in DSiWare sales. It would only really effect those who buy new DSi's with the new firmware on, and then you have the 3DS round the corner.

If Nintendo has a way to block DS flashcarts, maybe they are saving it for the 3DS? It would be embarrassing if the DS flashcarts worked on the 3DS out of the box.

imagine if you used a flashcart on a 3DS and the 3DS got bricked O:

yeah, the bar filled up, I took this update a few months back, thats why I wondering about this....thanks for the feed back!

I have a distinct feeling that the 3DS is going to have some form of anti-flashcart software but i believe that it will probably be a lot like the DSi's software, simply trying to block the non-recognized game IDs... But I've been wrong before (very wrong) and I have no idea what they are cooking up
