Got my DSLite a couple weeks ago just after the holidays. I searched up and down two states in my area (Noreastern US). I tracked down a single store in a nearby state which had 4 DSLites in stock. All other stores checked were out of stock. By the time I got up to the store, they were down to 2 DSLites. I grabbed mine. Within 15 minutes, I saw 3-4 people wandering around asking where the DSLites were.

Someone peeked into my basked and said 'Hey look, he got one!'.. I felt like running out of the store.

They originally had a single crimson which I wanted, and three blacks. I ended up with a black. From what I hear now though, maybe its a good thing I missed the crimson. Do most crimsons suffer from the dreaded orange display? My black unit has a perfectly clear display. I was surprised at how great it looked.

I opened the box in the car and stuck on the two display protectors immediately. Of course I had to poke around with it

Too bad the protector included in the 'enlight' case I bought seems to suck. I may need to track down a better quality protector. Now the trouble. Getting that darn screen protector film OFF the screen. Any tips?

Use an adhesive tape. Apply it on one edge and just pull it off. The screen protector will come along...

April? That's insane! Sure they didn't just say that in an attempt to sell you some alternative item over the phone?

They're sold out in the UK too. Our local Zavvii (formerly Virgin Megastore) had white ones back in stock on Saturday. The two people I know who are attempting to buy them are holding out for Silver ones and haven't had any luck yet, online or in the high street.

As a side note don't knock the Silver ones until you've seen them. My Nan got one for christmas, and I have no clue why everyone hates it so much. It looks fine; I'm not a big fan of the colour of the buttons but the console itself is definitely silver. A store assistant in GAME last week mentioned that Nintendo have changed the paint they use from a dingy grey to something a little more metallic, I have no source for that (or any launch silver DS's to compare it to) but if that is true then that might explain it. Take a look at one and see what you think.

$240? That's £21($42) over UK's price. Surprise me, as USA usually have them cheaper than UK. We pay high tax on everything!! Even pennies sweets!

It's only £99 here in UK. Just checked up some online British websites. Guess what? They are sold out too. Wow.

They cheated over here; in the runup to christmas the consoles were the same price but they started to only offer them in large bundles with about 4 games. Come to think of it last year things got back to normal over here much quicker than they did in the States too.

i have a zelda edition one coming in the mail, but what i really want is the crimson so i'll probably sell it. but yeah it's a pain to find one right now. at least the crimson one.

you must be mad, you do realise that the crimson screens are much more darker than the normal DS lites? they have a orange tint on both screens.

they don't actually. i got a crimson for my son for xmas, it is as bright as my nephews' ds'. there is a slight yellow tint on the bottom screen but all the new ones have or will also have it. the special edition gold also has a tint on the bottom screen.

those are the case with all recently made dses. I bought another black ds since my other ones touchscreen broke and immediately saw the difference. screen was darker and the viewing angles were craptacular.

my black DSL has a fuzzy ish touch screen. I keep thinking it looks like it is very sticky. It is very annoying. My white dsl has perfect screens though.

bwah wow APRIL? =\ that seems really odd for bestbuy.. here in canada my local bestbuy said they'll have a new shipment come in 2 weeks tops.. kinda sucks becase im waiting for one too.. my top screen became defective so i decided to use my bestbuy waranty to get a replacement ><

Walmart or Bestbuy are your best bets at getting a ds

Aww, I feel bad for you

I want a metallic rose DS... but they're not released here in europe... so they're kinda expensive...
But sell the gift card if it's possible? Or maybe you can talk with the guys at BB if they can make sure your giftcard is active until they come in stock? (if you want to wait that is)

Guys, are you sure about this tint on new DS Lites?
I'm getting a DS Lite in 1-2 weeks maximum(local Gamevalley shop ran out of them), and I don't want any tint on my DS Lite screens :'(

Lol...with all the things I'm hearing about the screen...I just may end up keeping my white one.

We're down to nothing but white DSlites in Wellington, Black and Pink fly off the shelves here. So did the blue. I really wanted one of those but I'm stuck with me white one since for months when the DSlite came to NZ all we had was white. >.

I feel so lucky I got DS Lite before this. Which was in August - they had plenty left. I was able to pick from pink, white and black. I love pink but the pink on DS Lite are ugly so I picked black. I wanted silver but it wasn't released yet.

@ Issac - eBay sell that colour cheaply. Or check out this link:-

http://www.renchi.com/renchi/NINTENDO_DS_D...onsole_110V.htm

That's all I could find that is cheaper than UK price of £99.

Using currency coverter it's 1,246.84 Swedish Krona.

Ouch that sounds expensive!!

And as for wanting silver DS Lite - I think I might stick with my DS Lite - I don't want the tint. Does anyone know why did they added tint?

not to be racist or anything... but I want a white one

well I guess I could sell the card locally but I already scratched off the back so I could check it online.. guess I could just say that.

I'm thinking I might just go to BB and buy a copy of crysis and give it to my friend and just buy the DS at walmart like above poster said.

Also online they have been getting stock of the pink one.... I don't even think a girl would want a pink ds..... most girls I come across, pink isn't their favorite color..usually blue or purple but on a console a girl is probably going to get a white one, imho.

I'm from the Netherlands and last week I bought a new DS Lite. First I went into Dixons, and they told me they didn't have a single one in stock! I couldn't believe it! Next to the Dixons was a toys store, so I just thought I ask just to be sure. And they just had some DS Lites in since that morning. Phew! I managed to get one. Finally my search for the perfect DS Lite is over, after two DSLites with bad touch screens I finally have one with a perfect sensitive touch screen! YOOOHOOOO!!!!!!! I'm so happy!

I'm a girl and I picked black over white. White for me... it's my least favourite colour to be honest. My favourite colour of all is purple so you are right, Nintendo do sell purple consoles - or was it just copies (saw them on eBay.)

But that shade of purple is damn ugly. *shrugs*

Tried amazon.com?

berlinka: sound like a nightmare for you! Glad you finally got the perfect working DS Lite! Enjoy it!

Anybody think Nintendo is holding back the DS on purpose?

With all the ROM carts flying off the virtual shelves, I'm sure its creating a higher demand on the DS's. Could it be Nintendo's way of trying to cut down on the piracy?

You could buy the carts and download the dumped ROMs all you want...but if you got no DS to play them on...they are useless.

You got it the wrong way around. You could say the same thing about legal games; people can buy them, but won't be able to play them because of a lack of consoles. Only they won't buy them at all, because of a lack of consoles.

The way to fight piracy is to sell as many consoles as possible. That way the percentage of people who don't have a flashcard is large enough to create a large enough customer base for new games.

I read somewhere that it would be April when Nintendo will restock the DS's.

Also with the recent sales of the flash carts...it would also create an artificially high demand for the DS. Maybe its Nintendo's way of saying F you.

I'm sure the people producing the flash carts can produce them faster and cheaper than Nintendo can produce the DS.
