hi, i own a used nintendo ds lite. the device strangely works with ds cartridges but r4 cards not working on the device. i have r4 gold pro 2020 and r4 upgrade revolution cards.

Its likely that you the R4 cartridges have the wrong frimware hence they aren't working.
For the R4 Upgrade revolution cards you can firstly look for the appropriate frimware to use on linFox Domain :: Nintendo DS Downloads Page which has a bunch of older frimwares from both real R4 cartridges and clones.
As for the 2020 Gold pro, you should visit the website adres written on the cartridge sticker and download the right frimware from there.

I don't know if you have already solved the kernel issue of your r4; otherwise I humbly suggest you to use the alternative software YSMenu that you will find on this page;

It is skinny and very simplified, but effective and highly compatible. Many use it; i bet you won't be disappointed.

That's exactly why I recommend you to try the kernel I suggested; there's no harm in trying. I'm pretty sure this will fix the crash problem.

I'm sorry, but at least you tried.
Of course, you are of few words; but does it crash with any game or only with some?
Maybe it could be a microSD problem; the maximum size accepted by the r4 gold is 32gb.
Try another one, better of a smaller size, preferably at high speed (class I / II).

So why don't you try disabling cheats; it's much nicer to challenge yourself and not spoil the original gameplay too much.
