hi. need some help.

i have a original 3ds which had its charging port loose from the motherboard.

i had it resoldered but now i'm having a different issue.

the orange indicator light turns ON for 4-5 seconds and then turns OFF(with or without original battery) and does NOT charge the battery. (the original battery has NO charge)

i tried using the dock (for the original battery) which has same results

If i insert the nyko power plus battery(which has charge) then the orange light does NOT turn at all. remove the nyko battery again starts the 5 second orange light

can someone point out to me where does the problem lie (is it the communication of the charging port to the charging pins connecting the battery???)

the charger works fine (use it with N3ds)

thanks in advance for any help

hi where is the fuse located?

btw the 3ds powers on and runs fine using any charged battery

its the battery not charging thats the concern (also orange light turning ON for only 5 seconds)

edit: the new 3ds is charging the old 3ds battery

so the concern is that old 3ds is not charging the battery even though port is fine and the orange light 5 second safety mechanism works

Its near the charging port, just google it
Looks like that is the culprit

its either 1. the fuse near the battery 2. the wireless chip inside is loose or 3. the ribbon cable for the screen is shorted

i googled it only shows 3ds xl fuse. do you have a photo of the fuse for small old 3ds?

i have the small 3ds not the xl. The XL has fuse near the charging port

the 3 option you mentioned is related to 3ds xl not the old small 3ds

i think the fuse thing is with xl not the small ones.

btw let me recap

the 3ds system software works fine
wifi and other components in game work fine
charger works fine
all batteries work fine
charging dock works fine

only this that doesnt work is the charging ports capability to transfer current from the port to the battery connections.
(that is the port doesnt detect the battery in the slot) hence the 5 second safety orange light mechanism

ok i tested the fuses and had the charging port resoldered. also checked all six points of the charging port with the battery connection port and all seem to pass current. so to recap

3ds system software works fine (wifi, gameplay, sound)
3ds charger works fine (charges my N3ds)
3x3ds batteries work fine (original 3ds, nyko power pak, new 3ds xlbattery all charged with N3ds)
charging cradle/dock works fine
fuses work fine

need help

any other solution as to why the current is not being transfered to the battery even though battery has been detected by the port
