They can do that... ?
Sony did that with the PS3, and Nintendo sort of did that with the DSi. Pre-DSi games aren't signed like games made after the DSi came out, so for those older DS games, the DSi uses a whitelist to tell if they should run or not.

That's why flash carts present the icon and game info of a real game, to bypass the game check.

Omg, that makes me feel like Mouse in a Cat's claws :( and by Cat i mean Nintendo, Sony etc. :P

We need to get the decap going somehow.... It's one of the best shots we got for a good hardware/low level exploit that Nintendo would need a hardware revision to fix. That's the best thi that could happen right now lol. That would blow the whole seen open.... If only I had rich friends that would be interested in donating (I have rich friends, but they wouldn't ever do this lol).

The donor posted his pending donation screen and said he would get to the bank on Thursday. Moneybrokers isn't paypal, he has to physically go to a bank and transfer the money to an Australian bank account.

E: even reaching the goal doesn't make hacking possible. It's just another step towards homebrew, but it could also be for nothing.

E2: He also said nothing about living in australia, that's just the company he has to transfer money to

Lol who cares, I'll believe it when I see it.

Preaching to the choir...

Mkay...not sure why then, most likely the physical location of the company that's going to be doing the decapping (and most likely Gshock) is in the USA...again, who cares, it was a joke.

They are going to use the images to see if there is any way to break into the 3DS. They're hoping they can find a vulnerability, but that's not guaranteed. People have been donating for a chance they could find an encryption key.

i smell a buzz kill, no wait never mind its just me. anyways the decap would hopefully put us a step in the right direction. but then again its not a sure fire thing, same thing with everything else in life.

Well, currently that's your best and fastest bet right now. Even if it didn't reveal a vuln that's as useful, knowing what's going on in there will still help the team quite a bit.

People need to realize this is one of the things that need to be done before ever considering giving up on a 3DS hack.

How do you mean giving up on hack..? why should we give up (not a question)

we should be able to find it, i mean its been how long? its bound to happen sooner or laterm nintendo cannot stop it forever.
It's a matter of when, not if. I agree. But if you manage to keep hackers that are literally creating RAM simulation boards to try and see what's going on away for 4 or 5 years, then things may start to die off due to bad yields. Of course, I'm not saying this WILL happen, but it could. I took to heart what Nintendo said, challenging hackers, after seeing what Ninty has done.
