Gaming NiGHTS Wii Confirmed!!!

Confirmed: NiGHTS To Show Up On The Nintendo Wii.
March 19th, 2007

No need to run to the Ophthalmology, you read right, Sonic Team developed NiGHTS has been confirmed by both Sega and Nintendo this morning. Rumors reached its peek this past week as pictures published on Nintendo’s official periodical Official Nintendo Magazine circulated throughout the web illustrating what seemed to be the acrobatic protagonist of NiGHTS formed by stars laid out on a pitch black sky with two white bold-lettered words “World Exclusive”. Both parties involved with the NiGHTS project have both stated that this won’t be a port of Sega Saturn’s 1996 title for the Nintendo Wii’s Virtual Console; Instead the untitled game will amplify the franchise making it it’s official sequel. Fans of the now original NiGHTS game shouldn’t dismiss the probability of seeing our jester attired friend from appearing in 32-bit format as part of Nintend Wii’s Virtual Console marketplace.

The game is being pulished, but not developed by Sega. It is being developed by a company fouded by the guy who created Sonic the Hedgehog. The company gets some small funding by Sega, but it is an independant company.

I like the fact that at the top of the article it says "Confirmed" but at the bottom it says "Stay tuned to SPOnG for everything on NiGHTS as information is drip-fed to us by way of leaks, off-the-record comment who knows, maybe even an official announcement."

It is true though, I can feel it.

What nice timing, my Sega Saturn laser is just about dead. Loved this game back in the day, and the big round controller that came with it.

I really can't wait to see what they do with this on the Wii, may be the only reason I don't sell my console.

In case you havent already heard, Sega has finally officially confirmed the title...

Nights: Journey of Dreams.

Released in Japan during the Winter season on Nintendo Wii, no other platforms announced.

Nights: JoD producer and Sonic Team veteran Takashi Iizuka said, "In 1996, under the concept of 'a refreshing feeling of flight,' we created Nights, a character of the world of dreams who dances through the skies. Eleven years later, the long silence broken, Nights will soar through a new dream world. A new stage, a new story, and a new plaftorm, the Wii. Please look forward to the new adventure of Nights and friends."

Also with the announcement they said that they would like to implement an online mode and 2 player play.
