okay so I've read all these posts for the last several months and not said a word. I don't know why I'm feeling like I want to share my thoughts now but I'm at least going to type them out. I may or may not hit the "post reply" button.
I'm going to express my opinion on both sides of this coin.
1.
@Hykem and other developers owe us absolutely nothing! Most if not all of them have family and lives. If you're not fortunate enough to be old enough to be married with children then you will have a hard time understanding this. I'm in my 40's and I have an awesome wife and 5 kids. They are my entire existence and will always come first. My teenagers take most of my free time in rides to places and hanging out with them. It can be hard to be patient with noted and recognized developers when you want so badly to be able to play with the projects that they create and you have the spare time to do so. I get this. I remember being young and unattached and chompin at the bit for the next console hack. I remember my college years when I would come to my dorm to find stacks of black xbox's (xbox classic) at my door waiting to be TSOP flashed. I don't fault you for this attitude, I just want you to try and understand the other side of the coin. Be patient and let these people have lives too so when they do get the spare time, they're not distracted by all the trolling and retorting that goes on in online social media.
2. I can completely understand any frustrations that you may have with all the announcements and delays. I think that the only "official" announcement that I remember was the first one that it would be a Christmas present. This may have been premature on Hykems part. The rest of the announcements were on twitter, IRC, screenshots etc. He and others may have felt pressured to say something as a result of the Christmas announcement, I don't know, I'm speculating here. If you are someone who makes a living off doing mods like this (yes that exists) or someone who is in college and interested in all the cool things you can do with a full exploit, then the constant back and forth of saying something vs. releasing can get under your skin real fast. For the dev's working on the hacks and homebrew, first see my #1 above and then, keep your mouth shut until you're ready to release. F the trolls. Focus on your life priorities first and then release when YOU'RE ready but try and keep quiet about it. Or if you feel that you have a strong need to share your accomplishments either be prepared for the backlash when you miss your promise or try not to give any actual date. I'd prefer silence myself so I don't have to sort through pages of shitposting on GBAtemp to get to the information that I'm looking for.
With that in mind can I formally request that we stop hammering those that post their concerns on here? You're either in the #1 category above or you're in the #2 but everybody has a right to say what they feel. I think like yin and yang that both sides have a right to feel the way that they do. I just want to see some civil conversation about each thought process. It's okay to create a thread and bleed some of your emotions online. That's way better than punching a wall or worse, taking it out on someone you love. The internet is a great place to let loose on your thoughts. Let's just remember that we are all God's children and try and treat each other as such.
