It is not illegal to modify a hardware for piracy or not. What is illegal is to sell tools for that mean, unlicensed device, encouraging piracy and (using)/acquiring/selling/distributing pirated content.

hykem's allowed to say he won't release his cool new exploit that he found until it gets patched, and i'm allowed to think that's stupid. what if it doesn't get patched? i'm stuck waiting forever, that's what. again, it's a catch 22.

He has been feeding you indirectly by adding information on the Wii U inner workings and thus allowing other devs to actually give us goodies. Think of it this way: hykem is the company that makes X, dimok uses X and translates it into something we actually use (in this case Loadiine) and then we utilize it. Obviously it sucks that there is a middle man and that the middle man can't really make something more appealing to most people (loadiine only works on a handful of FW) but there's nothing we can do about it. If he never releases his hacks then so be it. Send him angry letters and what not because he has been saying "I'm want to release it by X...." And that X never comes because of Y and that's where most of the frustration comes from.

He's waiting until he's obfuscated his code enough so that it works well. He's also developing an entire SDK for homebrew AND an emuNAND solution. Give the man some fucking time, holy shit.
