I have already contacted him and he said it has being modded , Do i need to install anything or can i just load backups straight away ?

Let's check if you have a Jtag. Turn on the 360 by holding down the eject button. If you get a blue screen with white letters and numbers then xell/xellous launched. That tells you if you have a Jtag. If not then put a backup in the DVD and see if it launches. I normally would tell you to verify it via ABGX, but since your 360 is already banned that is a mute point. If it is just a DVD flash then you don't need to install anything, however, if you have a Jtag you may need to install a couple of things to completely utilize the Jtagged unit.

Just pressed the eject to turn on and i dont have a jtag. Have tried a backup of forza 3 and the xbox says its reading the disk . Then just goes straight to this screen

According to a sticker on the back which someone has stuck on it says "banned" So doesn't this mean it's either flashed or modded ?

Are you sure the backup was burned properly? I have gotten that screen also when the wrong keys are injected into the DVD drives firmware. You may also want to check what firmware it's on (i.e. IX 1.61). That will tell you if any extra steps are needed like wave launcher discs, or the disc needs to be stealth verified. I'm no expert so I don't know which version of I xtreme requires what, but I believe you may still have a few options to try.

The backup did load ok in my neighbours xbox 360

How do i find out my firmware ?

You have to take out the DVD drive and plug it in to your PC and have a look in a PC application JungeFlasher that will be able to tell you.

Only have a laptop . So can't do that

Thanks anyway

No, it will fit in the PCMIA slot. Given how few people are aware of and use PCMIA, it's possible your laptop manufacturer may have skimped on it.

Haven't got a PCMIA slot

Bloke i bought second hand xbox 360 has now decided to tell me over phone that he forgot to give me the boot disk.

probs still on ixtreme 1.6

google for "activate.iso" for 360; and burn it to a DL disc

turn on 360, pop the disc in, let it load, take it out, put in the game and see if it works

lying bastard hasn't even modded my xbox 360. Just checked and the warranty sticker has not being removed .

How much did he charge you for it?

£100

Will be taking it back and get my money back
What I don't understand is how it can be banned from xbox live if it is not nodded or flashed

I gather with the older silver warrenty seals, you can use a hair dryer to open the case without breaking them.

Otherwise it could be banned because a profile used on a JTAG console was used on it. I believe FreeBoot adds it's data to the profile, and if you run a naked xex file through a file browser it also gets noted in the profile.
