Where can i download Xbox 360 games titles updats online and how can install them in Aurora manually ?

I'm yet to try installing updates via Aurora but, for me, connecting the HDD to the PC and injecting title updates via Horizon works without issues (at least on a few Halo games that I've tried). I've downloaded updates manually from Xbox Unity while on PC, checked the media ID of the base game with the XeXGUI. Maybe not the best way to do things, but that worked for me.
Still no luck - the same problem persists with the games not starting when the Title Update is present. The Title and Media IDs match.

I guess joining Xbox Live and risking going online is the only option, unless there's an ID changer that can modify the other updates to match my game ID so I can test those?

1 - Don't patch default/Default.xex with XexTool
2 - Use games in extracted ISO format (folder)
3 - Make sure you're using XeUnshackle (not FreeMyXe). Use @alexfree USB ready to plug solution
4 - Download TUs from Aurora, or using my tool (X360 TU Manager) or by hand using XboxUnity
5 - Apply TUs in your games
6 - Profit!

Can i ask why using unshackle instead of freemyxe would be better?

Better patch implemention method/better compatibility. No need to run a separate xex file before and after for OG Xbox games. Support for auto launching a custom dash. Back when it was first released I heard some conflicting reports about certain things only working on one or the other. I just give the option for both but have been using xeunshackle since beta 1 with zero issues. Never had any with freemyxe either tho personally. It’s not really any effort on my end to continually update the hack pack and offer both for the user to decide.

Perfect, exactly what you need to do. I’m going to end up dropping a tutorial for this for newbies. Maybe some kind of a tool as well for multi disc games?

No offence, but, why do you feel like you have to ask so many questions that have been already answered elsewhere? ConsoleMods or the appropriate GitHub repo is your friend. ;)

There's no difference between using FreeMyXe and XeUnshackle, they both have the same purposes - launching unsigned code. They both have improved in terms of compatibility after those few months (now including the launching of devkit titles). There's no need to manually patch the XEX files despite what others say online that don't read the manual as they're not up-to-date on things.

I really can’t blame them when every YouTuber is dropping a 1 minute long video saying “hey bad update v1.2 is great” then linking to a obsolete tutorial video they made in march. Also the death of text based media and tutorials (a big reason I made 360 hack pack, at the time there was maybe no web page explaining how to actually do it besides console mods).

You're absolutely right about that. This is where most of the confusion is derived from. It seems that plenty of newcomers still follow the rule book of by following a video tutorial, they get the information they need, and it's readily accessible and easy to understand; however, it's still not generally advised, and I still pass on that same message to not use video tutorials as they do indeed become out-of-date, yet, they follow them anyways, and I hear complaints from those who wonder as for why something isn't working or what they might've missed. It's a problem in the modding community even after those years later, and it's our job to point them in the right direction.

Ah I wasn’t gonna post this, but here I go. It’s one thing for video tutorials to exist. But what we have here is pure laziness and an attempt for more $$ by pointing people to videos they already uploaded. One would think it would make more $$$ by uploading a definitive up to date tutorial with the best user experience.

The original 360 hack pack was released 3/24/2025. I was working on it earlier then that too (it’s not just a zip file I upload to GitHub, at its heart is a complex bash script that downloads/extracts/renames/edits text files to assemble a ready to copy zip file for the end user, that way I can easily update it).

I was daily driving bad update before it was “usable” for people with the 360 hack pack, mostly making it bearable by never turning off my immune to rrod 360e that can’t be rgh’d and shocking everyone here with my months at a time uptime.

And to think people are still downloading things from like 6 different websites, renaming folders, copying and creating the right file structure manually all due to laziness/greed on the YouTubers that are then actually causing them issues (I.e. patching hasn’t ever been necessary with even 360 hack pack v1.0 released 3/24/2025) is kinda just sad to me.

Lack of attention spans are one way to put it, it's so surreal and also sad. Whatever you're downloading from those videos, you don't know what to expect without getting random viruses on your computer (if that still is ever relevant). And those YouTubers who are still promoting tutorials via video form should always carefully give out a disclaimer at the start to always refer to the text guide, or otherwise stuff like this happens, they're purposefully doing it for that revenue money. This is plain out wrong, and I understand that.

Sorry if this was asked, but i haven’t seen this question anywhere. Will the 360 still try to connect to Xbox Live if you left the Ethernet cable plugged in and turned the console off? I ask because I know the 360 can still download games even if you turn the console off.

I definitely had LiveBlock enabled. I was having a lot trouble with Xell and after I got it working, I genuinely forgot to unplug the Ethernet cable in my excitement. I then turned the console on several minutes later and remembered to unplug the Ethernet cable during the 360 logo animation. I did disable auto sign in on all accounts. After I finished, I turned off the console, unplugged the USB, plugged in the Ethernet cable, turned the console on, and connected to Xbox Live without any bans.

But if someone tries to make a guide like hacks.guide (see 3DS, Switch, PS Vita) that obviously explains everything in detail and provides constantly updated links. Obviously, a guide maintained by someone who keeps up to date with the 360 scene.

Text guides should always have one or more people who have plenty of expertise into one of those consoles to frequently update links and guides to be more in line with any contributions in the scene. Many of whom should be in the scene to know what's actually up, not base it to what others have said who know little about the subject.

Looks like something even bigger than Bad Uodate is coming.
Grimdoomer has been modifying HDD FWs in the past few weeks and this is the result.

Can an explanation be given as to what's happening here, or is it too early? Another softmod other than Bad Update?

Too early to tell.
He modified the HDD FW to exploit the system.
I don't know if it's "just " an entrypoint (like THWL or RBB) to chainload BadUpdate afterwards, or if it's something new all together.
The boottime is very good however, which could be either a fast BadUpdate attempt or somthing else that is a) more reliable and b) faster than BadUpdate - again, too early to tell.
