Is anyone else having trouble with Aurora title updates?

From what I understand, Aurora gets them from XboxUnity, so I double-checked and manually downloaded the correct updates for the matching Title ID. However, when I enable them in Aurora or place them in the correct folder under /Content/, the games stop booting.

Are these just bad updates, or am I doing something wrong?

I'm trying to update Forza Motorsport 4, Forza Horizon 1, and Forza Horizon 2.
I'm yet to try installing updates via Aurora but, for me, connecting the HDD to the PC and injecting title updates via Horizon works without issues (at least on a few Halo games that I've tried). I've downloaded updates manually from Xbox Unity while on PC, checked the media ID of the base game with the XeXGUI. Maybe not the best way to do things, but that worked for me.

is it possible to store the game files on official/internal hdd and access it via aurora/unshackle?
Indeed. I've installed a couple of my games to the official internal HDD and they are working perfectly fine - run the exploit, launch Aurora, play the game.

I've been testing the new update, and I have to say is pretty impresive the improvements done. Not failed and runned on 9 test in less than 2 minutes (1 run did on 5 mins and 40 secs).
Doing some test on what is capable of doing with xeunshackle, since now the executables don't need to be signed, but I stumbled into this situation.
When trying to run Classic xbox games (I have an original Black bought on console, and also a dump of DOA 1 Ultimate), it always make it crash and go back to dashboard. I'm pretty sure didn't touched the emulator files, and HDDx exist (since black runs fine when not in bad Update).
Anyone has the same problem? Found could be related to plugins like Proto interfering on OG Xbox games, but I'm sure I don't have it.

You have to paste the hacked emulator files to hddx:\Compatibility\

It's the only way to do so? Would not like to loose the ability to play Black without having to run badUpdate, but if it's the only way, at least now doing so is more than acceptable.
rename the "Compability" folder to "Compatibility-official" and then copy over the hacked "Compatibility" ... if you want to use the original Compatibility just reverse the renaming.

That's pretty clever, not thought about that. Thanks for the answer, will give it a try just now.

having a clear answer to this would be great, it would essentially make the USB portion a first-run only thing
It doesn't work.
The exploit looks for files on a USB drive with hardcoded paths.
Grim would need to make a HDD version.

Or maybe try to ask kmx360 for it on his repo

Bad Update repository is now set as read only.

"Due to continuous spam and lack of moderation controls on GitHub's side I've decided to make this repository read-only. If anyone has any meaningful contributions to make you can contact me directly. Do **NOT** contact me for general support questions or low effort contributions (spelling mistakes, verbiage, etc.), I will not respond and you will be blocked."

good, people know better than to be fuckheads on github but they do it anyway
I'm genuinely curious what type of "spam" was posted to the repository issues page? Because Bad Update has gotten so popular over the last few days due to quite a big update (no pun intended), I assume it's within the hundreds.

Well the pull request for 1.2 alone had about 30 deleted comments derailing the actual code review so I don’t blame him

If it’s that easy I might take a shot at this :rofl2:

As far as I know, no. And would they? I also don't know.

Given that the xbox division is kinda a mess right now, I am increasingly leaning on a no, but I wouldn't get too cozy either, just in case.
