This is kinda nuts.
That's a lot of work especially the reballing part but it's still freakin' awesome!
that's insane i wonder how much it cost to get the cpu's switched.
couldn't he have moved the emmc contents over with software though?
Holy crap. Someone did it. Someone actually did it!
If someone could do this for me that would be awesome, although it sounds like this particular person was extremely skilled.
Yeah, this sounds like the kind of mod that would easily cost more than the console itself.
You do need both.
I'd pay a nice price to have that. Not kidding.
Dude could have saved half the work by just nand modding them both and digitially swapping the contents of the NAND instead. The processor's still have to be swapped, but at least he would be soldering one chip instead of two.
I guess a XL n3ds is fine for me I don't want to do such hard work.
Read the whole thing, awesome.
That guy is nuts for attempting to do that at home, and partially succeeding.
someone should contact a few circuit board repair shops find out how much the whole thing would cost.
looks a pain in the ass, congratz on the job though lol.
I wonder if he's here.
And feeling regret right now.
This is amazing and insane. Good job.
Who may be that guy..
I know a few people who could do this if they got a hold of the CPU stencil...
This guy could make a lot of cash if he had offered his expertise and converted other people 3DS into North American versions.
I'm just waiting for replacement parts for the New 3DS so that I can take the SNES style buttons and put them on my N3DS XL
Everyone loves the SNES style buttons
Not gonna lie. I want.
