I don't think updating is necessary in this case, as it literally uses the modifications of Goomba Color that Veikkos created that are present in my kernel. I kinda don't agree with my name being attached to it since I didn't even make those changes, but I digress.

Anyways, that's all K1.07 does. Nothing to see there.

I gotcha, I'll leave my setup as is then. Overall, love the theme and the work you've put in it.

Hi guys. I understand the save backup feature makes up to 5 back ups of a GBA rom's save file but does that refer to the quick save or the in-game save and where does it backup to? I've never seen anything in the the BACKUP/SAVER folder even though the "Backup Disabled" box is unchecked and Auto save is enabled (I don't really know which one does what). With both enabled I get "Copy game save? [Game Name] Saving..." when booting into flash cart OS which makes me think it's copying the save data but if it is I sure don't know where to.

Thanks Sterophonick. That is an outstanding reply. Hopefully I understand some of the basic functions of the cart a little better now.

My problem, basically, is that I'm an idiot. I thought that checking the "Backup Disabled" box meant dis-enabling backups, but it was just displaying the "Backup" status as "Disabled". I guess it reminded me of Group policy items like the one for Onedrive where you enable the rule to "prevent the use of...". So yeah. It works now that I've checked it and it says "Enabled". Thanks for clarifying. Though, if it says "Save Backup" then the "Save" part is offscreen. Amounts to the same. Just FYI just in case.

So next time, in order to recover from a corrupted save, now that save states are being backed up to BACKUP/SAVER, it seems as easy as copying the latest uncorrupted save from BACKUP/SAVER to SYSTEM/SAVER, removing the appended number from the end, and it should load as latest quicksave after booting the rom with Boot with Addon enabled.

I'll try that out later with another game. Now that I've played back through the hours lost in that ROM I'd rather fiddle with a different one

By save states I mean the quicksaves, as you call them. Quicksaves are not backed up. What you are referring to are the .rts files. Save files are the .sav files.

Just making sure we got that cleared up.

Also, since you have the definitive edition you should have to worry as much about save corruption. You kinda have to be doing it on purpose to corrupt your saves on that card.

This also happens when trying to boot into any of the formats supported by SimpleLight (tried .txt, .jpg, and .gbc). I bought it in January used so I probably can't get a replacement. There isn't anything visibly wrong with the PCB.

Make sure the SD card doesn't have any errors. Tools such as chkdsk (Windows) and fdisk (macOS and Linux) will work.
Make sure the cartridge contacts are cleaned. Use a q-tip and some isopropyl alcohol on the pins.
Check to see if this happens on the stock kernel, it likely will.

If these do not work, then you should probably look into getting a replacement.

I forgot to mention, GBA games work when I write them to the flash memory. I used fsck -C on the SD card and it did find errors but after fixing them the error persists.

This seller is selling cartridges with your firmware on it, did you know this? They did say that they used your firmware and credited you for it but it's still sketchy to sell something for $20 more than it should be just because it's running your firmware without specific permission (unless you did give them permission)

that's not the problem, the problem is selling it at a premium as "modded" because of a custom firmware without permission. they are basically selling stereophonick's firmware for $20.
