Might be the first Spiderman game on DS to be worth playing.

No way! Have you played Spider-Man for PS1, N64 and Dreamcast? It was just called Spider-Man and wasn't linked to any movies or anything. It came out in 2000 and got a 9.9 from IGN, and many other very high reviews. THE best Spider-Man game by far.
Ultimate Spider-Man is also really good for Xbox/PS2.

EDIT: NIGHTCRAWLER CONFIRMED FOR DS VERSION

I have no idea what this is about! I just read something with Spiderman and '2D' . . . And I immediately thought 'War of the Gems' !

That should get a remake/port.

(*is putting that on psp right now*)

id like a giant marvel beat em up, that would be great xD
Same here, I really wish Capcom would get the Marvel license again, they did some excellent arcade fighters in the 90's.

Check out The Punisher on MAME.

I also don't see the Castlevania type of gameplay connection. But it was a short video. From what I saw it didn't look that great, in my opinion. But again, it was a short vid so I didn't get to see much.

I really do not have high hopes for this series anymore(the last one I personally found enjoyable was Spiderman 2 on the Xbox), so when I read a new one is coming out I pretty much dismiss it immediately. Hopefully this one will be at least a little entertaining.

Looking at the map on the bottom screen it definatly looks very Metroidvania-ish. But it all comes down to the gameplay. If it's non-linear, then we have our Spiderman game in Metroidvania style, if it's linear... well, you know the answer

I was blown away for the first minute or so but I can see this game being really repetitive.

Then again, can't get more repetitive than Castlevania

but that somehow works.

I usually write off ds versions of console games as shovelware. This is a very nice surprise, looking forward to it.

Are there other DS versions of console games that are done well?
Iron Man DS is the best version, though its just above average.
Geometry Wars: Galaxies is better for me on DS
Ninja Gaiden was done very well.
Speed Racer is much better on DS.

LEGO Batman & LEGO Star Wars Complete Saga are done very well but of course not worth having if you've got another console.

There are many others too. When it comes to DS versions of games, developers should see them as seperate games rather than just a DS version of something.
Don't forget Worms 2! I think this game suits the handheld much more than consoles.
